♯┆A Midnight Surprise .ᐟ
───☁️─────────────☁️ ───
— – pairing : kakashi hatake x gn!reader
— – word count : 1611
— – tags : fluff, marriage, hokage!kakashi
— – summary : your overworked husband is expecting a scolding but comes home to an unpredicted surprise instead
— – notes : happy (late) birthday to kakashi! I thought it’d be nice to write a little happy one-shot for him since he hasn’t gotten lots of chances to experience happiness in canon. Thanks for dropping by; enjoy!
───☁️─────────────☁️ ───
His face contorted into an expression of tiredness as he finally let out a sigh, the light from the screen slowly dying out with the computer being turned off, leaving the room devoid of any light.
Kakashi slowly got up from his seat. The introduction of computers in Konoha instead of papers didn’t mean there was any less paperwork for him to do; if anything, it assured the back pain caused by a long day of sitting down working would be accompanied by a persisting headache and blurry vision.
He looked up at the clock. Midnight already. At times like these, when he’d spent the entire day — hell, today he was lucky it was just the day — in his office, his first thought would be of Y/N.
The sole thought of their partner going to sleep yet again with nobody by their side was enough to fill him with guilt. And it’s not like Y/N ever made it an issue. They were a shinobi, a great shinobi at that, just like him; they were perfectly aware that Kakashi becoming hokage would come with as many privileges as burdens. And not once did they complain about that.
On his part, Kakashi always did his best to be a present partner, even when absent: leaving food ready for Y/N to eat, buying them books to read in their spare time, doing anything in his power to be home as soon as possible. But there was only so much one man — even one as incredible as the Kakashi Hatake — could do with the destiny of an entire village graving on his shoulders.
But that night was different.
Y/N had specifically asked for Kakashi not to be late that night, and yet there he was. Postponing appointments and rushing through meetings came down to nothing when Shizune last showed up with an emergency call from God-knows-who to solve God-knows-what.
And before he knew it, it was midnight.
He tried to pick up his things as rapidly as possible — something very uncommon for someone people would often mistake as half asleep — and made his way towards the door. With every step he took, he mentally measured the time left to his (or, actually, finally, their) house.
The silent empty streets, barely lit by the moonlight, were as if making fun of him; a quiet reminder of the dormant state of the village in which he and he only was still nowhere near the comfort of his bed, of his house, and of his partner.
His pace got quicker; and not even when the much familiar house finally presented itself behind the corner, not even then did he finally allow himself a break, the light coming from inside making him mentally curse himself. Did they wait for him awake? The mere thought filled him with guilt, even more than he already was. He had no clue what was going to be the deal about that night, why Y/N requested for that specifically: but he did know he owed them that much and a lot more, and so he never questioned it and instead, made it so that he would keep to his promise. And yet again, there he was.
He tried his best to keep his composure as he grabbed the door handle, (not so) ready to finally go inside. It even surprised him how much the unpleasant creak of the opening entrance startled him. After all, he wasn’t sure Y/N hadn’t fallen asleep with the lights on while waiting for him; the last thing he wanted was to be late and accidentally wake them up.
If his heart stopped, his thoughts did the complete opposite, thousands of them running through his mind the second he heard a sound of footsteps coming from the kitchen. And just as he halted, so did the faint noise.
Twenty years (or was it? He didn’t care enough to count them before he met Y/N) of being a shinobi don’t teach you how to apologise for such a screw up; in fact, it wasn’t uncommon for the young hokage to (internally) panic at any given occasion, his lack of experience in relationships making room for lots of — although never ill intentioned — mistakes. He was a fast learner, though, and it showed by the way his head was hanging slightly lower than usual: he was getting ready for an apology, and a heartfelt one at that.
His train of thoughts (or, well, mostly worries) suddenly came to an halt.
“Kakashi…?”
The sound of the familiar voice made his heart sink, and it wasn’t long until panic took a hold of him again. He frantically took a few steps towards the kitchen, but he was quickly stopped.
“Don’t come in!” The voice spoke from the other room; although to his surprise, it sounded more like a plead than a reprimand.
“Honey, look, I-“ He began, taking half a step forward; but even his apology got cut short, making him feel — if possible — even worse.
“Don’t!” the voice demanded, and there was a hint of panic in it, “Just one second, please!”
Kakashi knew no better than to stand in the living room, nervously looking around; he did not like the tone he sensed in his partner — it made him all the more nervous, to be honest, — but the least he could do now was respect their wish to be left alone.
A few minutes went by, and the noise coming from the kitchen was of very little comfort: if, on one hand, it kept Kakashi company and reassured him that Y/N wasn’t asleep by themselves, or crying, or had moved out and left him forever (Kakashi was one very endearingly dramatic individual), on the other it kept him wondering just what the hell was going on. And after a while, he couldn’t stand it anymore.
“Y/N, what’s going on?” The man asked stepping into the kitchen, breaking a promise for the second time that day. Y/N immediately turned on their back at the sound of his voice, a look on panic now on their face.
“I told you to stay out!” They yelled, and “I’m sorry, I swear I tried my best, ok? Please let me explain.” he apologised, failing to spot the soft blush of embarrassment on his partner’s cheeks.
And when he did, it all came into place.
Y/N’s hand brushed him off, a frustrated sigh leaving their mouth along with a whispered series of cursing; one to their partner, and one to themselves.
“…I messed up and had to start from the top. I needed more time.” they continued, but their words were met with silence. Kakashi’s eyes were still on the half-baked cake and decorations behind them.
“What…” he began, but barely managed to get the first syllables out. What was this? Why?
“I asked Shizune to buy me some time…” the explanation went on and on, but Kakashi was more confused with every thing that Y/N added.
“The one time you had to be late!” was the last thing they said, and their face was now lit up by a playful — if only a bit downbeat, though, from the disappointment of failing with the surprise — smirk that left no more room for confusion in Kakashi’s heart.
“Happy birthday.” they spoke.
But Kakashi couldn’t speak. Suddenly, everything made sense: Y/N asking him to come home early; everybody else conveniently playing with the hokage’s time, rearranging appointments and adding new ones to his already busy schedule as if purposefully trying to delay his departure.
He hadn’t even realised it was his birthday until now.
“It was all you…?” and as he finally realised, emotions he hadn’t felt in years — hell, he could say decades given he was now well past his thirties — threatening to resurface with every word he spoke.
A satisfied smile crept on Y/N’s face upon hearing Kakashi’s miserable attempt at containing his sentiment.
“I know you don’t care that much about your birthdays, but you’ve been working a lot lately and…”
“So you made me work more in order to surprise me, mh?” He raised an eyebrow, and now the both of them were chuckling lightly.
“At least I wasn’t actually late.” he added, his words accompanied not by a sigh of relief as one would expect; his eyes were fixated on Y/N’s, conveying every ounce of gratitude his words failed to. He was almost in a state of shock, still struggling to comprehend how someone could put that much effort into making his day special; let alone, someone he thought he had been letting down for a while now.
Not too far from feeling guilty for the amount of attention and care given to him, he finally got closer to the cake, to where Y/N was standing.
“You would’ve been late anyway,” Y/N joked in response, but this time it was them who got cut off by a sudden, gentle kiss placed on their forehead as they got pulled into an unexpected — yet surely craved — embrace.
“Thank you.” was all that was said after that, and it was enough.
And so the two stood like that, lovingly, in each other’s arms, for a very long time: Kakashi, mentally promising to Y/N that from that day on, he was always going to make it home in time to a partner he would love and appreciate as they deserved; and Y/N, whose racing mind was filled with battling thoughts, trying to decide whether or not to interrupt this rare, sweet moment to point out that the cake’s frosting was starting to melt.

PAIRING : Naruto Uzumaki x GN!Reader,
GENRE : fluff
WC : 1.3k
SUMMARY : Naruto starts noticing a shift in his feelings, a warmth that goes beyond friendship. As memories resurface and new emotions grow, he realizes there’s one person who’s always seen him for who he truly is—and means more to him than he ever expected.
CONTENT/WARNINGS : mild violence, heartfelt moments, a soft transition from friendship to romance, no use of y/n, just lmk if I missed anything…!
Tumblr media
The first time he’d seen you again after three years, he was stunned.
It wasn’t just that you’d grown taller, or that your smile was brighter, or even that you seemed to carry yourself with a confidence he hadn’t seen before. It was something deeper, something he couldn’t quite put into words. As he stood in front of you, awkwardly scratching the back of his neck, he felt this pang in his chest—a feeling he’d never experienced before.
You greeted him with that same warmth you’d had since you were kids, the same smile that had always welcomed him on his toughest days. Naruto realized, with a mix of awe and confusion, that he hadn’t been able to forget that smile during his training with Jiraiya, no matter how hard he tried to focus on his new jutsus or pushing past his limits. Somewhere, deep down, he’d been waiting to come home to that familiar face.
In the days following his return, Naruto noticed that things felt both the same and completely different between you. You laughed together, like you always had. You joked, shared memories, and talked for hours. But every now and then, Naruto would catch himself watching you just a bit too long, feeling his heart pound in a way that made him fumble over his words.
“What’s going on with me?” he’d mutter to himself, lying on his bed at night, staring up at the ceiling. You’d always been his best friend, his first friend—the one person who’d never seen him as just the Nine-Tails kid. You had seen him, truly seen him, when no one else had.
For weeks, he wrestled with this strange, growing feeling. He didn’t know how to handle it, didn’t even know if it was something he could handle. But each time he saw you smile, each time you reached out to support him, Naruto felt that tug in his chest, and he realized that he didn’t want to ignore it. He wanted to understand it. He wanted to understand you.
Months passed, and Naruto grew stronger, as did his bond with you. Then came the attack on the village. When Pain tore through Konoha, Naruto fought harder than he ever had before, not just for the village, but for everyone he cared about—and you were at the top of that list. Through each punch, each jutsu, he held onto the thought of protecting the people he loved.
The village hailed him as a hero after that battle. People who had once looked down on him now cheered for him. They clapped him on the shoulder, they smiled, they praised him. It felt… good, but also strange. Naruto had always dreamed of being acknowledged by the village, but now that he had it, he realized something important.
All this time, when people hadn’t cared, when they’d treated him like an outcast, you had been the one standing by his side. You had seen him for who he was, and your support had never wavered. Naruto had always thought he’d wanted the approval of the entire village, but now he realized that your belief in him meant more than anything else.
And that’s when it hit him. You’d been there for him, always. Through every failure, every triumph, every moment of doubt and every rare victory, you’d been his rock. And in the middle of that realization, Naruto finally understood the feeling he’d been carrying since he came back from training.
He was in love with you.
A few months after the battle, Naruto invited you over to his apartment one evening. He didn’t know why, exactly. Maybe he was tired of keeping this feeling to himself, or maybe he just needed to be near you, to remind himself of everything you’d been through together. But tonight, he felt different. He felt ready.
You were sprawled on his couch, laughing about some memory from your childhood. Naruto watched you, a fond smile playing at his lips. It amazed him how easily you could talk to him, how you seemed to know exactly what he needed, even when he didn’t. For a moment, he got lost in the way you looked—comfortable, at home. The way you always looked around him.
“So, Naruto,” you said, breaking his train of thought, “what are you going to do now that the whole village loves you?” You raised an eyebrow, teasing him. “Guess I’ll have to get used to sharing you.”
He felt his heart skip at that. “I don’t… want to be shared,” he replied quietly, surprising even himself with how serious he sounded.
You tilted your head, curiosity sparking in your eyes. “What do you mean?”
Naruto took a deep breath. He’d been practicing how he would say this for weeks, running through scenarios in his mind. But now that he was sitting here, looking at you, he realized that words wouldn’t come easily. Still, he couldn’t hold it in any longer.
“I mean… I don’t want anyone else,” he said, his voice barely above a whisper. “I don’t want to share what I have with you. I want it to just… be us.”
Your expression softened, but you didn’t speak, waiting for him to continue. Naruto’s hands were trembling as he reached out and took your hand in his, a gesture he’d never dared to make before. The warmth of your skin against his sent a wave of courage through him.
“When I was training with Jiraiya-sensei, I couldn’t stop thinking about you,” he admitted, his cheeks flushed. “No matter how hard I tried, you were always there. In my mind, I mean. And when I came back, I didn’t understand what I was feeling. I thought maybe it would go away. But it didn’t. And then… after the fight with Pain, when everyone started caring, I realized something. I realized that no one’s ever cared about me the way you have. No one’s ever seen me like you do.”
Naruto took a deep breath, his blue eyes searching yours. “You’ve been there for me, through everything. You didn’t care about the Nine-Tails, or how everyone else looked at me. You just… cared about me. And now… now I think I know why that matters so much to me.”
He paused, his heart pounding, every nerve in his body on edge. “I think… no, I know… that I’m in love with you.”
The words hung in the air, and Naruto felt his face go warm as he finally, finally said it. For the first time in his life, he was vulnerable, baring his heart to the one person he knew would never hurt it.
You looked at him, and for a terrifying moment, he couldn’t read your expression. Then, slowly, a smile spread across your face—a smile that melted every ounce of anxiety inside him.
“Oh, Naruto…” You squeezed his hand, your voice soft. “I’ve always been here because I love you, too. I don’t think there’s been a day where I haven’t wanted to be by your side.”
The relief and joy that washed over him was overwhelming. He felt like his chest would burst, like he’d found something he didn’t even know he’d been searching for.
Without thinking, he leaned in, closing the distance between you. Your lips met, soft and warm, and for that brief moment, nothing else existed. The village, the battles, the world—they all faded away, leaving just the two of you in a moment that was perfect, that was everything he’d ever wanted.
When he pulled back, Naruto looked at you, his heart still racing, his hand still holding yours tightly. “I don’t know what the future holds,” he murmured, his voice rough with emotion. “But I know that whatever happens… I want you with me. Always.”
You smiled, resting your forehead against his. “Always,” you echoed, your voice filled with the same promise.
And for the first time in his life, Naruto felt like he was exactly where he was meant to be. Right there, with you, the person who’d always been there, the one who had seen him at his worst and stayed. The person he loved.

Most to least experienced in bed? Konoha 11 and whoever else you wanna add. Love your work 😩😩
alrighty, i switched this up a bit to avoid strange research, if you wanna see someone else/another group ranking, lmk - i hope this is up to code, and thank you for the request!!
Sex Tier List
Ranked: Konoha 11 (Naruto, Sakura, Shikamaru, Ino, Choji, Kiba, Shino, Hinata, Neji, Lee, Tenten) + Sand Siblings (Kankuro, Temari, Gaara) + Sasuke
Warnings: swearing, x(GN)reader implications, we are talking about sex, uh idk lmk if something makes you uncomfy
Notes: Boruto era for everyone, and, for everyone, their Bortuo era! this request had me fucked up lowk because, canonically, these mfs got zero action without rings - so we're putting an enjoyment spin on it, worst to best, in a modern-ish au. as in, who you would have to guide, vs, who could rock your world, five times over, in one night.
Masterlist💿
Tier 3 - Passable🪙
5. Hinata
I'm not even sorry. She deffo just lies there. Never gets on top. You have to ask for anything and everything, and not even in a sexy, teasing way, more in a 'I don't want to feel like I'm fucking a wooden board' way.
4. Kiba
May God love him because this man is certainly a selfish lover. That's not to say he isn't good - he's great at getting himself off, his brain just kinda shuts off otherwise. If you wanna cum, the onus is on you, because he's fuck-drunk within seconds of you touching him.
3. Kankuro
He's trying, okay?? It's just really fucking hard to keep you in mind when you just feel so fucking good. Kankuro's just inconsistent - that's the main issue. He'll try a million different positions in one session and is always unintentionally edging you.
2. Lee
Now, our darling, Rock Lee, is trying his best, honestly and truly. However, he doesn't know anything about anything, and you have to guide him every now and again. He's got the enthusiasm down, he's just not very good at translating it into pure sexual energy on the fly.
1. Gaara
He's too busy to be good at sex. When he does find the time, y'all get extra down and dirty, but Gaara's still lowkey inexperienced and the irregularity of your encounters doesn't help.
Tier 2 - Good🪩
5. Choji
Bro's got hidden talents, aight? It's a matter of him wanting to utilize them that sets Choji up. Most nights, he's chilling, but on those key few nights, hot damn.
4. Sasuke
I would've put him lower but y'all would've been mad - it's called REALISM. Sasuke would be wayyyyy too busy to put in the work to develop any actual skill in the bedroom, and he would find researching for it so far past disgusting. His good grace would be his natural endowment and prowess, but he's on thin fucking ice.
3. Tenten
Surprisingly stone top vibes, I cannot lie. She deffo gets off on your pleasure, but she's down here because she's kinda bad at first. There would totally be improvement, like obvious and quick improvement, but those first few times were pretty rough.
2. Shino
Baby boy. Sweet boy. Ugh. I love. I wanted him as number one, so I'm not even defending this. Take it up with my lawyer.
1. Naruto
He's not the main character for nothing. Naruto lays pipe, but he can get a bit selfish at times. Never fear though, the second he catches himself, lost in the sauce, another round gets added to his itinerary. He'll be making it up to you tenfold, even if it was just for a minute.
Tier 1 - Fantastic🔮
5. Sakura
With her level of anatomical knowledge, she barely even needs to break a sweat to give you a release. However, she will break a sweat, because she wants to. Just amazing, idk what to tell you.
4. Temari
Got me kickin my feet and twirlin my hair rn - she would be so GODLY in the sack. She's always very present, very attentive, but is so openly expressive in the moment. Temari would have you screaming syllables and seeing colours behind your eyelids.
🥉 Neji
The game my man's got is INSANE. I just know for a goddamn fact that no one dances the horizontal mambo as gracefully as Neji. You're pleased, he's pleased, no one's ever terribly tired or bruised, the limits are clear lines but are never even toed. That's just the reg, too! Special nights would be fucking wild, dude would have wine, and flowers, and candles - he would go the whole nine yards every time.
🥈 Ino
Be still, my beating heart. Christ. Yeah, Ino's got this shit on lock. She's a vers switch, need I say more? (I do, someone request a fic)
🥇 SHIKAMARU
Y'all seen my preferance yet, or nah?
Oh Em Gee - Shikamaru could have you, heels to Jesus, all night longgggg. The stamina, the will, the knowledge, the capability; it's all there, and no one is as apt to put it all together except for Shikamaru. He would go for hours at a time, until he physically couldn't anymore. He would know exactly what makes your timebomb tick, and he would push every button so deliciously. Fuck, he's a tease too. If you two aren't actively in the bedroom, he's trying to get you there.

hi! could you write a naruto x reader fic where reader just moved to konoha and saw naruto being bullied and decides to help him? maybe they become friends after and naruto develops a crush on reader
thank you thats all!
author's note: my exams are getting near and I have not been super active lately, but writing this was a nice break for my brain and actually gave me a chance to recharge. I absolutely love Naruto and I am so happy I finally got my first request for him! I really hope you enjoy! x
warnings: none, but what was supposed to be fluff did turn into some light angst? (sorry, can't control myself); also gn! reader and characters aged to be over 18 towards the end;
Tumblr media
"It should've been you, freak!"
The words were followed by a shove to the boy's chest, but it didn't hurt nearly as deep as the statement said. In a way, Naruto agreed with what the other kid was saying - maybe it shouldn't have been him buried deep underground, instead of the dozens of innocent lives that were taken by the demon sealed inside of him. Maybe death is indeed the better option compared to his life filled with loneliness and being hated by everyone in the village.
"Just leave me alone!", his voice came out weaker than he intended to and caused nothing but laughter by the five boys surround him.
"Or what, whisker boy?"
Naruto opened his mouth to reply, but quickly closed it again, once no good comeback came to his mind.
What was he going do?
He could try and fight them like last time, but with five versus one, he was bound to lose again. He could also run… but with 3 of the boys being a few years older and already training at the Academy, they would surely catch him. Alternatively, he could just sit and a hope for a miracle to happ-
“Get lost.”
The little pebble you held in your hand flew toward the head of one of the boys, forcing him to turn around with annoyance written all over his face. It took a few seconds for Naruto to locate where the voice came from, but once he spotted you, his breath hitched in his throat.
Just like an angel, sent straight from Heaven, you stood in the middle of the street, eyeing all of the boys with an unimpressed expression and with one of your hands playing with two more pebbles between your fingers. You must have been just a visitor since the blonde boy was sure he would have remembered you if he had seen you before. His eyes fell down towards the front of your vest, where a small scorpion was embodied in gold.
A clan symbol, that's for sure. But which?
"Who the heck are you?", the boy you hit yelled, his palm still rubbing the sore spot at the back of his head, "Go away before we make you go away."
A loud scoff escaped past your lips and before he could react, you threw a second stone at him, this time successfully hitting his left eye.
"Ow!", he screamed, and a few of his friends immediately rushed to his side, checking if he was okay. Moving their attention to you, their bodies tensed, instinctively taking a fighting stance. Naruto, on the other hand, stood behind them, still unsure of what was going on.
"I give you exactly ten seconds to run before I make you go away", you mimicked their earlier words, a note of challenge in your voice. Your threat was met with nothing but laughter and you narrowed your eyes at them, your fingers reaching to the little pouch attached to the side of your waist.
"Ha, like you can scare us aw- OW!", with no chance to finish, the boy, who you assumed was the leader of the gang, was hit again, this time in his other eye, making him stumble back. Calculating the distance between you and the other males, you expertly threw the rest of the stones in your hand in their direction, hitting each one without a miss.
Before he could realise what was happening, Naruto found himself facing you alone, his bullies now running quickly down the street. They kept shouting some curses and threats back at you, their words mixing together and making it impossible to actually understand what were they saying. You didn't look too bothered about it either, your eyes boring into the blonde boy.
"Heh, t-thanks for that...", Naruto nervously murmured with a crooked smile, his hand rubbing the back of his neck. He was not sure if you were going to attack him next, but judging by your more relaxed stance now, he hoped not. Your face remained stoic, your eyes tracing his face and dirty outfit, the corners of your mouth twitching in disgust.
"You need a shower", was all you said, before turning around and starting walking towards your house. It took a few seconds for the blonde boy to assimilate your words, his head shaking once he realised that you intended this to be the end of your conversation.
"Hey! Wait!", he yelled, his feet hurrying after you, "What's your name?"
You did not stop, but your steps did slow down. Casting him a side glance, you raised an eyebrow at him in question.
"Why do you need my name?"
"Well, you know...", the boy trailed off, but your facial expression remained unchanged. Clearing his throat, he shoved both his hands in his pockets, while still walking next to you. He stayed silent for a minute, wondering how to word his thoughts. Did he actually need a reason to ask for your name? Was there even a right answer to that?
"So we can be friends! I assume you are new here, but that's okay because you can't have a better guide around Konoha than me and-"
"I don't need new friends", you immediately shot him down, your focus moving from him to the road ahead. The feeling of his curious stare burned at the side of your face, yet you refused to elaborate further.
"Well, I...", his movements stopped and he remained frozen in his place. The way you turned his offer down so quickly hurt more than he expected from someone he didn't even know. There was something cold and unfriendly about you and he couldn't decide if it was directed toward him, or if it was just who you were.
Have you heard about him and the demon inside of him already? You didn't look scared of him, but it was also clear you wanted nothing to do with him. Maybe you thought he was weak because of the way he let those kids talk to him?
"It's Y/N", your voice took him out of his thoughts and he lifted his gaze up to you. After seeing the confusion in it, you clarified, "My name is Y/N."
A small smile formed on his face and he closed the distance between you once again, reaching his hand toward you.
"I am Naruto", he shivered at the feeling of your smaller hand placing itself into his, "Naruto Uzumaki."
You nodded your head, despite already knowing well enough who he was. It has been only a week since you moved from the Village Hidden in the Rain to Konoha, but your parents had already made you aware of the rumours going around the village of the so-called "fox demon boy". Looking at the whiskers on his face, it didn't take long for you to realise it was him.
"The gates in front of the academy. Eight o'clock tomorrow morning. Don't be late", you instructed calmly, pulling your hand away from his grasp.
"Huh?"
You rolled your eyes at his dumbfounded look.
"I could use a guide around the village", you shrugged your shoulders, before turning around once again, "But if you are even one minute late, I would leave."
Needless to say the next day was the first time Naruto actually showed up for something on time.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Two years have passed since the first time you met Naruto. Surprisingly for him and many of the other villagers, an unlikely friendship formed between you despite your contrasting personalities.
Naruto was like the sun - bright, positive, bringing light into everyone's life. Despite what others have put him through, he remained dreaming big, eager to prove himself as the strongest ninja in Konoha. While he still encountered unfriendly stares and was avoided by the majority of the kids, he radiated optimism and never shut his mouth about how one day everyone was going to admire him.
You, on the other hand, were... well, you.
Raised as the oldest daughter of the Doku clan, one of the few wealthy clans in Amegakure, your life drastically differed from the one of your blonde friend. Moving to Konoha after the political tension in your home village threatened the influence held by your father, your parents made sure to continue your comfortable life by purchasing a large compound in the outskirts of the Leaf Village.
Too busy to climb the social ladder, your parents have left you in charge of looking after your two younger sisters, thus never really giving you the chance to enjoy a carefree childhood. Sure, you were aided by the many maids who helped around the house, but having to constantly keep an eye on your siblings made you mature way quicker than expected. It was no surprise that even since your early childhood you developed a moody personality, your state of mind shifting only between annoyance and boredom.
Nothing really impressed you, nor could make you sad. Interactions with people were draining the little energy and patience you had left and you avoided them as much as possible, preferring to sit in your compound's garden by yourself, immersed in one of your many books about nature, plants and poison making.
Despite that, you were not heartless. So when you saw Naruto for the first time, being cornered by these five boys, you knew you had to intervene, despite having no intention to get to know him. But the moment you saw his expression after you made it clear that you were not interested in forming friendships, something inside you stirred with guilt and despite your better judgment, you decided to give it a shot.
You often wondered if that was a mistake, especially in moments like this, when Naruto was loudly complaining to you about the team he has been assigned in, pieces of the food he was chewing falling out of his mouth while talking.
"Can you believe it? Me and that teme in the same team together! This has to be a joke!", he moaned, stuffing his mouth with more ramen, half of which flew towards you, while he kept trying to talk and eat and the same time.
You looked in disgust at the small piece of noodle that rested on your sleeve, carefully picking it up and throwing it away.
"Can you stop talking with your mouth full?", you asked in annoyance, rolling your eyes. Naruto hummed under his breath but showed no signs of following your request. At this point he was so used to your grumpy comments, that often they went in into one ear and came back out of the other.
"And Sakura doesn't even pay attention to me, too busy to fawn over that duck-butt looking jerk!", he lifted the bowl in his hands to his mouth and obnoxiously slurped the remaining food at the bottom. You quietly chewed your chicken while you listened to his complaints.
The relationship between him and the Uchiha has been confusing, to say the least. Before being assigned to a team together, they rarely interacted, showing no real interest in each other. Since Team 7 was formed, however, they were constantly clashing with each other and turning even the slightest things into a competition.
"What do you think?", he asked you, face leaning towards yours, while his hands moved to grab the second bowl of ramen.
"About what?", you asked with a sigh, your chopstick twirling your food in a bored manner. Naruto rolled his eyes, stuffing a large piece of pork into his mouth.
"About Sasuke, duh!", he said like it was the most obvious thing in the world, "I don't really understand how girls are always after him!"
You shrugged your shoulders in response.
"I don't think about him", was all you said, returning your focus to your food. Naruto glanced at you, his mouth opening to ask you something else, but his cheeks suddenly flushed red, and he closed it again. You noticed his weird reaction, but did not comment on it, leaving him to be the one to break the silence once again.
"What about your team? Are they nice?", he cleared his throat, surprising you with the sudden change of topic. While Naruto was extremely kind, he usually preferred to talk about himself and what was going on in his life, rather than show interest in someone else.
"They are alright", you put the last bit of chicken into your mouth, before pushing your plate away. Having only two other students in the whole class who were not natives of Konoha, it was no surprise they decided to pair you together, thinking that this was something you could bond over.
Luckily for you, both of your teammates were just as uninterested in forming friendships as you. Hisa, the oldest one in your group and originally born in Suna, was an excellent swordsman and pretty good in taijutsu, making him the front fighter of your team and in some way the self-proclaimed leader of it. He rarely talked, unless he was sharing battle strategies, preferring to rely on actions rather than words.
Mako, the other boy in your team, was the most timid and shy one in the team, yet somehow the most sociable. Born in the Village Hidden in the Mist as part of the Yuki Clan, he moved here when he was just an infant. He was the only one in your team that possessed a Kekkei Genkai, and while not master at it in any way, he was an extremely valuable addition to your team and probably the best sparring partner out of you three.
You, on the other hand, were the long-shot weaponry fighter of the team. Specializing in poison making, just like the rest of your clan, your skills lay in ambushing and immobilizing enemies from far away with the help of your poison needles.
While you still could handle yourself pretty well in hand-to-hand combat, even against opponents like Hisa, you rarely had to do that, your expert aim almost never missing your targets. You were also the only one in the team who knew basic medical ninjutsu, a skill which your sensei often encouraged you to pursue further, but you refused.
"Kami, sometimes it's exhausting to be your friend, you know?", Naruto groaned, unsatisfied with the short answers you kept giving him. He expected you to give him an annoyed look or even slap him on the arm, but was caught by surprise once your melodic laugh reached his ears.
This was the first time he has EVER heard you laugh.
"Could say the same about you", you shook your head, stealing a piece of tomato from his bowl.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Everything changed once Sasuke left the village, including the friendship you had with Naruto. His unjustified (to you) determination to bring him back completely baffled you and forced you to completely lose your temper once he told you he was leaving the village in order to get stronger.
"You are delusional", you hissed, crossing your arms in front of your chest, "You are leaving your whole life behind for what? To bring a traitor, who wants nothing do to with you, back home?"
Naruto's eyes hardened and his hands shoved the last bit of clothes into his backpack, not caring if they were about to be wrinkly. He had invited you to his place to share his decision with you and while he knew you were not going to agree, he did not expect you to react that harshly.
It was not a secret that you did not harbour warm feelings toward any of Naruto's teammates. The Uchiha was a skilled and powerful ninja, but too blinded by his own emotions and ego, to be able to appreciate the reality of his life. He thought he was better than everyone else and seemingly this also included you since he never missed a chance to jab at you or Naruto when he saw you together. You, on the other hand, also did not hold back, giving him the cold shoulder and making him feel just as small and pathetic as he was making everyone else around him feel.
Naturally, Sakura did not like you since you were treating Sasuke that way, but that hardly bothered you since in your eyes she was both weak and annoying. And while there were dozens of girls, just as obsessed and in love like her, there was something about her that made the ugly feelings of rage and jealousy burn inside your chest. Maybe it was the fact that Naruto always talked about how pretty and confident she was, or maybe it was the fact that you were more than convinced she did not deserve even a minute of attention from your best friend... you did not know what it was exactly, but there was a reason for you not liking her.
"It's not just that...", he sighed, taking a sit next to you on the bed, "I just... I need to get stronger. Even Kakashi-sensei agrees going with Jiraya would help me improve my chakra control and makes me a better ninja. One, that deserves to be a Hokage."
"What does Kakashi-sensei even know?", you countered, "His whole life he has always been here."
Naruto looked at you with his eyes full of regret and disappointment. His arm tried to reach out to you, but you quickly pulled away, standing from the bed.
"You are never going to be strong, Naruto."
"What?", he furrowed his brows, your words taking him completely off guard. The way you said that through gritted teeth and your narrowed eyes made you look like you were facing your biggest enemy.
And Naruto did not like that.
"You are never going to be strong!", you repeated, this time your voice raising, "Because you keep wasting your energy and efforts on stuff that don't matter. You keep chasing people like Sasuke and Sakura, who don't give a damn about you! You keep overlooking the people that actually care about you! People like me!"
You ended your rant with panting body and teeth biting into your bottom lip, stopping you from saying anything else that you knew you were going to regret later. You hoped that like many other things you said, Naruto wouldn't actually register your words, but unluckily for you, this time he was carefully listening.
"You care about me?", he repeated, his eyes boring into yours. Unable to face the consequences of your words, you stared at him for a whole minute, before slowly nodding your head.
"I...", he loudly gulped, a light rosy colour covering his cheeks and ears, "Like... Like a friend? Or.. like something else?"
The silence that followed his question made you both fidget uncomfortably in your places. You kept biting your lip, the metallic taste of your blood soon filling your mouth.
What was going on? Where has the control you usually had over your thoughts and words gone? You didn't know how to answer his question, without utterly and completely destroying your friendship.
"I...", for the first time since he had known you, Naruto saw you speechless. You turned your head, the pressure of his gaze too intense for you to handle. Taking a breath, you managed to gather your thoughts together and carefully proceed:
"Like someone who I want to grow and hopefully spend my life with in the future...", you explained, your voice carrying an unusual softness and vulnerability, "I... don't make me actually say it, Naruto."
You didn't know what you expected. Maybe for him to stand up and embrace you in a hug, telling you that he shares your feelings. Or for him to storm off, his normal reaction when he feels stressed and cornered.
It was a surprise, however, when you heard his voice right behind you.
When did he even got up from his seat?
"Y/N...", your name rolled out as a broken whisper out of his lips and you already knew that nothing good was about to follow.
"Don't!", you tried to stop him before he could put the final nail into your already cracking heart.
“You have no idea-“
“Don’t do that!”
“..what your friendship means to me”, he finished his sentence, laying one of his palms flat on your shoulder, "But I... I just don't see you that way."
You flinched away from his touch, eyes still refusing to meet his. Your heard him take a breath and it sounded like he wants to say something else, but thought better of it. Both of you stayed silent - him, because he was too scared to hurt you even more, you, because you desperately tried to control the building tears that threatened to spill out on your cheeks.
"There is nothing I can say to change your mind about staying, is there?", you finally said, the question sounding more like a statement. Naruto did not reply, instead taking a step back and returning to packing his bag.
Without another word, you bolted towards the door, promising yourself that this was to be the last time you allowed your heart to be vulnerable.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Naruto found himself surprised once he came back to the village.
Sakura was now an extremely strong kunoichi, the best student of Lady Tsunade. His friend, Gaara, has become the Kazekage and many of his classmates have already been promoted to the rank of Jonin.
It seemed everybody was growing and starting to cave their own path. And while he managed to catch up with pretty much everyone and everything during his few weeks back, he was yet to see you.
The blond Uzumaki would lie if he said he hadn't thought about you during his time away. He had... a lot. Your last conversation kept replaying in his mind, your bored face appearing in his mind every time he closed his eyes, sometimes even blessing him with one of these rare smiles he knew were reserved just for him.
Your words that day shocked him. Never had he imagined he would be the subject of someone's affection, let alone yours. You were always so reserved and composed around him, that it took him years to crack your personality, and even then, he was not sure you were fully letting him in.
Naruto was a confident being, which included his feelings. He was always sure of what he felt and why he felt it. Yet, he couldn't explain why you haunted his thoughts way more than his other friends, including Sakura. The crush that he thought he had on his teammate was now shadowed by the big question mark of who were you to him.
On one hand, you were his closest friend. You were also grumpy and pouting the majority of the time, but for some reason, he found that cute and often took it as a challenge to make you smile. You were very blunt, which sometimes hurt his ego, but he appreciated your honesty. Also, unlike Sakura, you never physically hurt him, even though he had to admit just your glare was often enough to stop him from doing whatever he was about to do.
On the other hand... well, he couldn't really think about something bad about you or your personality. Other than the fact that you reminded him too much of Shikamaru, by being constantly bored and finding yourself lacking the enthusiasm to do stuff.
"You can take Y/N out of the Hidden Rain Village, but you can't take the Hidden Rain Village out of Y/N" - Naruto often joked about you, saying that he finds your moody personality reminding him of these comforting rains, that makes you want to stay in bed all day and do nothing. You were never sure if that was a compliment or not, but with your friend having a more unique way of thinking, you never really asked him to elaborate.
After a few more weeks of not seeing you, Naruto decided it was finally time to knock on your door. Were you avoiding him? He has been out every day asking his friends about you, but they couldn't provide any information, saying that they rarely see you anyway because of how many missions your team was taking.
The door to the Doku compound opened and suddenly Naruto was tackled by two giggling girls. He landed on his bum and with a wide smile, he hugged them back, supporting their weight while both of them just hung on his neck.
"Naruto!", they both screamed in unison, "You are back!"
Chaya and Kaya were your two younger sisters, who were also Naruto's biggest fangirls. From the first time they met him when they could barely walk, they were constantly clinging to him, admiring him and even getting jealous if he had to leave them to hang out with you. The blonde ninja also enjoyed spending time with them, feeling them as close as if they were his own siblings.
"Hey, easy!", he laughed, carefully untangling their hands from his neck and crouching in front of them. He ruffled both of his heads, chucking once they whined he was ruining their hairstyles.
"Are you going to stay for dinner?" "I have this new ninja doll - do you want to see it?" "Are you going to tell us some stories of your travels?"
The two children bombarded him with questions and he kept looking between Chaya and Kaya, unsure who was asking what. Almost like she knew he needed to be saved, your mother showed up at the door, pushing the two girls back and giving Naruto an apologetic smile.
"Naruto, glad to see you! It's been a while."
"Lady Doku", the boy greeted, bowing his head, "It is good to see you too!"
Your mother stepped aside, a silent invitation for Naruto to enter and he took it without a second thought. Looking around, he was glad to see that your home was the same as he remembered it. Despite being somewhat scared of your parents in the beginning due to their reservations based on the rumours going around Konoha, your whole family has welcomed him and made sure he had a full stomach on more than one occasion. They also have paid for his ninja uniform in the past, as well as provide him with a warm bed in the spare guesthouse during the coldest months, when his apartment was freezing.
"Are you going to stay for dinner?", Lady Doku asked, leading Naruto to the dining room, "Y/N and Hisa would be here soon. They are just giving their mission report to the Hokage."
Ah, so that's why he hadn't seen you around! You were on a mission!
"Can't wait to see her!", Naruto smiled brightly, taking a seat at the dinner table, "I have been wondering where she is! I was going around the whole village trying to find her, heh!"
He took the glass of water in front of him and gulped almost half of it at once. He was nervous and he was sure your mother could tell by the way he was rambling and his voice went higher than normal. Still, she said nothing of it, instead turning towards the door, once your father entered the room with a huff.
"Are they here yet?", he grumbled under his breath, looking at his wife with an annoyed expression, "They have been giving this report for an hour. Are they writing it now or something?"
Your mother cleared her throat and gave him a scolding look, her eyes briefly moving to Naruto to show him that they were not alone. The man stared at her with confusion for a few seconds, not understanding what she is trying to say.
"What, woman?", a movement at the end of the table caught his attention and he finally turned around, only to see your childhood friend sitting awkwardly, giving him a small wave. Your father suddenly smiled, his mood improving drastically, and he went round the table, patting the blond boy on the back.
"Ah, the Uzumaki boy!", he laughed, squeezing his shoulder, "We were wondering when you are going to show up. Dinners without you have been dull, you know?"
Naruto smiled at his words and bowed his head to him as a sign of respect. Your father started asking him questions about his time away with Jiraya and what he had learned during this time, and the boy enthusiastically started to explain all the new jutsu techniques he mastered and all the adventures he had with his sensei.
Soon Chaya and Kaya ran into the room, almost tripping in their hurry of who was about to sit next to Naruto. Chaya, however, being the taller one, managed to beat her sister, which resulted in loud bickering and dramatic cries from Kaya. Naruto looked at them with a smile but was quickly brought back to the conversation with your dad, once he asked him about his future plans as a ninja.
"Girls, stop!", your mother sighed and rubbed her temples, "Kaya, just sit next to Hisa today."
"I don't want to sit next to Y/N's boyfriend, I want to sit next to Narutooooo!", she moaned, crossing her arms in front of her chest with a huff.
Hearing the word "boyfriend", Naruto's head suddenly whipped in her direction, his throat tightening and making him choke on his own spit. He started coughing and his fist made its way to his chest, hitting it a few times in an attempt to help him swallow. Everyone's eyes went on him and your father's heavy hand went to his back, slapping him so hard he was thrown forward, almost banging his head on the table.
"Hit him one more time and he may fly through the wall", your monotone voice sounded next to the entry and Naruto immediately lifted his eyes, his mouth opening slightly once he saw you leaning on the door frame.
You were taller and leaner than the last time he saw you, your long hair now sitting in a high bun on top of your head. A golden bracelet in the form of a scorpion, the symbol of your clan, shined on your wrist, partly covered by your long sleeves.
What didn't change, however, was the unimpressed look that you currently gave him. The blonde tried to offer you a small smile, but you had no reaction, other than sighing and taking the seat opposite him. Closely behind you was Hisa, your teammate, and what Naruto learned to be your "boyfriend".
"Naruto is here!", yelled Kaya, taking her seat on the table, not even acknowledging Hisa.
"Really? Wouldn't have noticed", you said flatly, your eyes boring into his. Naruto shifted uncomfortably under your gaze, suddenly feeling like a nuisance by coming to your house. Sensing the tension, your father decided to shift the focus on you.
"So, how was your mission? I thought it was supposed to be only a week and you were gone for a few", he lifted his eyebrow, motioning the maid in the corner of the room to bring the meals to the table.
"The mission did indeed finish in a week", Hisa finally spoke, his face stoic, "But I wanted Y/N to meet my family back in Suna. They are excited about a potential future union between our clan and the Doku."
"I bet there are", your father mumbled under his nose, rolling his eyes while taking a bite of his salad.
Naruto, who has been sitting silent the whole time and drinking his second glass of water in an attempt to calm his nerves, now spat the liquid forward, showering both you and your partner in water.
"A union?", he asked, his voice loud and squawky, "What? Between you two?"
"Why is that hard to believe?", you asked, your eyes narrowing at him.
The truth is you were anything, but happy Naruto was here tonight. You've heard from Mako that he was searching for you and that he grew up a lot, no longer the silly boy anymore, but a man. And you had to agree - laying your eyes on him tonight, a sudden rush of your old feelings hit you like a wave. The love you thought you buried deep inside of you, suddenly resurfaced and it made you angry.
Angry, because it was not fair to you, or to Hisa, or even to your family, who seemed so excited and glad that the blonde ninja was back into your lives. You couldn't help but feel betrayed by them, especially since both your mother and father knew how broken you were once he left the village.
"Well, I don't know...", Naruto's combative personality woke up in the face of your challenging words, completely forgetting he was surrounded by other people, "Maybe it is hard to believe because both of you are completely incompatible!"
"Naruto, you need to calm down!", Hisa's voice was stern, carrying a note of threatening in it. The blonde boy, however, completely ignored that, instead furrowing his brows.
"I am calm!", he grumbled, fixing him with a glare.
The whole idea of you and Hisa was just... wrong. How did you two even fall for each other? Both of you were introverted, silent, and cold individuals, who, by what he could observe tonight, had zero chemistry between each other. Even the way you sat with almost a chair distance between you was weird in his eyes, especially since he knew you had no problem with physical contact, his own arm resting on your shoulder countless times before, even in front of your mom and dad.
"Don't be mad, because I was there to pick up the pieces you left behind!"
Silence.
Everyone looked at Hisa with surprise, even you. Never, for all the years you had known him, have you heard him be so aggressive and arrogant with his words. Naruto, also seemed shocked, but he quickly regained composure, a fire of rage burning behind his eyes.
"Shut up! You don't know anything!", he shouted, pointing his finger at your lover, "Hell would freeze before I believe she is with you because she likes you! Did you force her?"
His gaze shifted towards you, both of his brows lifting high.
"Did he threaten you? Blackmail you?"
"Don't be silly!", you scolded him under your breath, your cheeks now crimson red from embarrassment by the fact all of this was taking place in front your family members, who seemed invested in the little row by now, "Can we just eat our food in peace?"
"No!", it was Hisa who spoke first and you tried to elbow him, unhappy with his sudden confidence and eagerness to fight, but he paid you no mind, "Me and Y/N like each other. And Naruto needs to take his nose out of our relationship, before I make him to!"
You buried your head in your hands, casting a pleading look toward your dad, who actually seemed to be finding the whole thing amusing, judging by the small smirk on his face.
"Like each other?", Naruto scoffed, now glaring daggers at the other male, "A piece of cardboard has more personality than you, how could anyone like you?"
"Ha!", Chaya laughed with her mouth full, "That's true! Hisa IS boring!"
Kaya hummed in agreement, while both your parents tried to stifle a laugh. Your boyfriend, however, seemed anything but impressed by the comment and he looked at you, expecting you to defend him. You let out a sigh of annoyance, shrugging your shoulders.
How can you defend him from a fact that was true?
"Me and you. Outside. Now!", Hisa commanded, pushing his chair back and standing up. Naruto seemed to be about to do the same, when your father's voice boomed around the room.
"Sit down!", he said and Hisa reluctantly followed, his eyes still boring holes into Naruto's head, "Enough of your silly boy fight! Dinner time is family time, it is not an opportunity for you to show off in front of Y/N! Show some respect to this household!"
"Daaad!", you whined, wanting nothing more than the ground to open and swallow you. Both boys, seemingly hit by realisation of their behaviour after hearing your father's words, mumbled an apology before focusing on eating their food.
The whole dinner continued in silence, cut only by your mother who was desperately trying to lighten the mood by talking about some new market shops that opened in the village, but everyone else seemed to lack enthusiasm, choosing to remain quiet instead. Even your two siblings, who normally did not have their mouths shut, were now communicating only with glances with each other.
What was once a warm and welcoming home for Naruto, now felt weird for him to be in. So as soon as he finished his meal, he said his thanks and goodbyes, eager to get away from you and your boyfriend. Dozens of questions filled his brain and soon a headache started to form, making him rub his forehead in frustration.
What the hell has happened during these three years while he was away? He knew he hurt you that day when he said he did not return his feelings, but was it really that bad, that you felt nothing but resentment towards him now?
He was almost by the gate of your garden, when he heard your voice again.
"Why did you come?"
He turned around, finding with relief that you were by yourself. Your body language, however, was stiff and unwelcoming. You were ready for a confrontation.
"I wanted to see you", he admitted, not shying his gaze away from yours, "I... missed you."
A dry chuckle left past your lips and you shook your head. Making a few steps towards him, your sharp stare was focused on his blue eyes, searching for any signs of lies. You stood there quietly observing him, trying to gather your thoughts and clarify your own feelings.
Did you miss him? Of course, you did, every single day. Were you about to tell him? Absolutely no way.
"I am in love with you", he suddenly blurted out, catching you off guard. You took a sharp breath, unsure if he really said it or if you imagined it. Using your moment of shock as an opportunity to close the distance between you, he cautiously took one of your hands in his.
"I know I hurt you and I was dumb for not seeing what I had all along... But during these few years away, only one person haunted my thoughts. Only one person motivated me to do better, to grow into the man that they deserve, and to finally get the courage to admit in front of them and myself that I am utterly, hopelessly and crazy in love with them."
His hand rested under your chin, lifting your head towards him once you tried to look down, hiding your now blushing face from him.
"That person is you."
You let out the air that you did not even realize you were holding, his close proximity and the feeling of his touch on your hand making you feel almost like you were floating. You had the gather all of the courage you had left, in order to pull away rather than smash your lips into his.
"I can't."
Naruto looked at you with confusion, taking another step towards you, making you step back in return. He stood still for a few seconds, before pushing his hands in his pockets and looking down at his feet.
"You... You don't feel the same way?"
You stared at him for a minute, wondering if it would be easier to just lie and say "yes". Yet your heart begged you to tell him the truth, eager to be free of the weight of the feelings you have been carrying for years.
"The feelings I have for you would never go away. I have been loving you since we were children and I would love you till we are both old sacks of bones", you chuckled at your own words and suddenly the atmosphere between you felt lighter, almost like the old days. Naruto looked at you, a small smile tugging at the corner of his mouth.
"But I am with Hisa...", his smile quickly turned into a frown, "And things have changed. I changed... and I know you did too. No matter how bad I want to believe you, I think you need to really listen to your heart."
"But I have, I do lov-"
"Were you about to say that to me if I was not taken by somebody else?", your words were harsh and cold, but also true. Naruto closed his mouth, looking down. It is true his confession came out as a result of his jealousy tonight, but he was also confident in the fact that he did had feelings for you.
Or he thinks he does.
"I want you to be sure of what you feel", you said, now with a gentler tone, "Not telling me what your temporary emotions are leading you to believe you feel."
With slow steps you moved toward him, grabbing his face in your hands and pressing your lips against his cheek. He closed his eyes at the feeling, instinctively leaning towards the warmth radiating from your touch. He almost groaned when you let go, wishing it did last further.
He watched you walk back to your house, his own heart a mess. He knew he was feeling something for you, but perhaps it was not the right time now.
He still had to deal with the lingering crush he had on his teammate, which he couldn't even tell if it was there or not. He also still wanted to put all of his focus on bringing Sasuke back, something he knew you were not on the same page as him. And perhaps, he had to also accept the fact that he did miss the chance he had with you, and it was unfair for him to meddle in your new relationship.
There was no doubt that fate was about to bring you together someday, he had a feeling about it.
But now, it was just not the right time.

“Now! Become one!” Madara shouted.
You were tired from fighting, tired from this war. It hadn't lasted so long, but it sure felt like it. Your whole body, which had been aching all night long, suddenly started to calm down. The pain stopped and you started to relax.
In the distance, other shinobi were panicking, unlike you. For you, not being able to move was a somewhat nice feeling. It gave you a strange sense of safety.
The light shining upon the battlefield was so bright, making it hard to see anything. However, vision wasn’t your only sense being dulled. The rest of your body felt as if it were submerged in water, a tight pressure embracing you all around.
Maybe due to the night sky being so light, everything seemed unnaturally bright and vivid. The little you managed to see was weirdly slow, like the entire world slowed its pace down. You sweared that in the few seconds before closing your eyes, you were able to predict what direction the plants would sway before they did so. But your eyelids were too heavy all of a sudden, leaving you with no choice, but to close your eyes.
When you opened your eyes again, all the pressure and stress from before were lifted from your body. You felt cleaner, fresher and better than you had ever been. The sun was shining in the sky, and you were in the shade of a tree. A gentle breeze that didn’t disturb your hair kept you in the perfect temperature. You didn’t know where you were, but it didn’t stop you from being so… happy. Right then and there, your worries had vanished.
You looked down from the sky, moving your face forward, and were met by a field of the prettiest flowers you had ever seen. The wind carried its smell to you, it was so good!
Walking towards the flower field, you spotted a silhouette. There, in the midst of the flowers, was Madara. He wasn’t wearing armour nor did he look alien like during the war. You got scared and lowered yourself to the level of the flowers. Hopefully, you’d manage to hide yourself from him.
When he turned in your direction, your heart skipped a beat. You were done for! You barely managed to survive, only to run directly into Madara! Good heavens, your hands were trembling trying to cover your mouth so that you did accidentally scream. At least you would face your end by such a handsome man. Who said that.
The closer Madara got, the more you relaxed. You had accepted your fate. You didn’t hold a chance against him in a fight. You closed your eyes in hope of a quick and painless death. Instead, a warm hard hand touched your cheek. You opened your eyes in reflex, staring straight into Madara's black eyes.
He gave you a soft smile as he caressed your blushing cheek.
You could barely believe what was happening. Of course, Madara was evil and a known public enemy, so you never shared your thoughts about him with anyone. For all that mattered, you would never – should never have a chance with him. Also, because he was dead long before you were born, but mostly because of the stigma of dating an evil traitor who attacked the village.
“Stop it,” He said softly, “You don't have to worry about such things anymore.” Madara continued to tell you in his deep voice that made your heart flutter in the battlefield.
You two were so close now, with him having lowered himself to your level. Both sitting in the flower field. The breeze lifted Madara's long hair until it reached you.
“Go ahead,”
You tried to control yourself so as to not touch his hair.
“You can touch it, it's okay.” Madara repeated.
Still a bit suspicious, you were surprised he would let you do it. But his reassurances came in the perfect time to convince you, almost like he knew what was going through your mind. Either way, this was not an opportunity you would throw away.
You lifted your hand to feel his hair, and it was soft and voluminous. He came closer, moving his hand from your cheek to go around you and sat by your side. You leaned into his chest as you played with his hair. This day couldn't be better if you were dreaming.

How Genin Naruto, Sasuke, Neji, Hinata, Sakura, Rock Lee react to going on a go mission in a long time and when they return the reader is waiting for them at the gate and is so happy that they are back that he hugs them and ends up knocking them down and doesn't let go of them for a while and stays with them all day. (The reader and they are in love with each other)
author's note: First post in a long time! I took a little bit of a liberty with some of the characters, but the general idea is there for all of them. It was a while since I got this request and I was working off of the material I had written in my Google Drive (and the majority of this request was written two months ago), so if you would like me to rewrite some of the entries please let me know. I can do that. For now, though, I hope you all enjoy!

summary: Greeting the genins when they come back from a long mission!
Uzumaki Naruto
When returning from a week away, Naruto is dorking out to Sasuke, Sakura, and Kakashi about how he totally helped out when the enemy was attacking the three of them. Sakura gets in a word about how he was tussling with cats, not enemy shinobi, before you leapt off a roof onto Naruto’s back.
The unexpected piggyback ride leaves him stumbling and bristling, screaming, “WHO IS THAT?!” In response, you lock your legs around his torso and grip his shoulders through the flailing, giggling like a maniac. When he hears your laugh, Naruto whips his head up to get a glimpse of you and… well… this has the result you’d think it would.
The back of his head slams into your nose and you release your grip, the two of you now nursing matching wounds as the rest of Team 7 stands off to the side watching the show with deadpan expressions.
“What was that for, Uzumaki? I was just trying to say hi!” you would quip, pointing a finger from your free hand at him, your other pressing into your face to quell the pain.
“It’s not MY fault that I was ambushed!” he would yell, pointing back at you. At this point, you two were attracting the attention of the civilians and Team 7 needed to drag you two away forcefully.
After the two of you calmed down, you ended up apologizing for scaring Naruto with your silly prank. He laughs it off and accepts, saying it was an accident and that it was pretty funny and harmless in the end. He even offers you another piggyback ride around the village, this time without the headbutting, which causes your heart to beat a little faster as you accept.
Uchiha Sasuke
As usual after returning to Konoha with Team 7, the only people to greet them at the gate were Sakura’s parents. Naruto darted off to… wherever the hell he goes to cause mayhem, while Kakashi simply vanished into the air, leaving Sasuke to make his way home alone. To the empty Uchiha compound. He always took the long way.
However, this particular day, it seemed that he had a shadow — you. Sasuke knew you’d been following him since about halfway through his walk home, when he spotted your ninja garb through the crowds swiftly taking cover in an alleyway. Half of him was always irked by your insistence that you spend time with him. Didn’t you have anything else better to do? But the shameless part of him, the one that yearned for a friend, was thankful that you took the time out of your day to be with him despite his prickly and cold attitude. Besides Team 7, you were the only one that ever kept trying; only you could possibly understand the motives behind that decision. Does he feel guilty about it? Yes, damn it, he does. He should be focused on his goals, not whatever the hell this is. Something in him is healing, though. And tells him to let you in. Just a little bit.
On the threshold of the compound, you stepped from Sasuke’s peripheral and appeared with a bag of treats. “Hey, Sasuke!” you greeted with a wide smile. “I saw you got back while I was out in the markets,” You noted the scrapes and bruises over his body, as well as the state of his clothing and his sour expression. “Rough mission?”
He would respond with an affirmative noise, taking the bag from your hands and leading the way to his house. There, you would chew his ear off with stories about your training and small missions while he sat in silence, sharpening his dull kunai and shuriken from the mission. The rest of the compound may have been haunted by the ghosts of the massacre, but right now, something in Sasuke felt a little bit at ease in that household for the first time in years as you and him munched on junk food together.
Hyuga Neji
The second that you get word that Team Guy is expected to return from their long-term mission, you plant yourself at the gates to welcome them back. They must be far away, however, since you’ve been lounging with the guards for way too long, playing cards and gossiping about practically every other shinobi in the village.
In the blink of an eye, one after another, two flashes of green speed through the gates, leaving clouds of dust billowing. The draft from, assumedly, Lee and Guy’s movements, sent the cards from your game of blackjack spiraling into the air. The chunin assigned guard began lunging for everyone’s cards to get an upper hand, leaving you to struggle for just your own. You had a damn good hand, too! At least you thought? Of course this would happen…
Tenten shot by soon after, begging for her sensei and team mate to “please stop this nonsense”. It barely occurred to you, though, that the one person you were looking for was still missing as you lunged and grabbed for your cards. Your vision had tunneled up with your head, your gaze flickering to the… Huh? Where your cards were once fluttering in the air is now only blue sky.
“Hey!” you shouted, whipping your head down and around. “Which one of you took my cards? Picking on the genin, are you? How—”
“I have them right here,” a voice snarked from your left, putting five fanned-out cards right over your field of vision. “You should probably fold soon. You’ve only got seven out of twenty-one. Unless you’re the one that bet that entire pile of chocolate.”
“Neji! You’re back too!” You snatched the cards from his outstretched hand and turned to the regrouped chunin, throwing your cards down on the dirt face-up. “I fold.” In one fluid motion, you turned and took Neji’s wrapped forearm in your hand, taking him into the streets of Konoha. He opened his mouth to complain, but not before you shut him right up with a wide smirk, telling him this is exactly what he advised.
Hyuga Hinata
Daring not to sprint with the delicate pastries in your grasp, you walked hastily towards the main entrance of Konoha. Team Eight was supposed to already be there. Have you missed them? Maybe Kiba held them up somewhere along the way following some random animal’s poop scent for a prank. That situation would certainly not be ideal, but at least you would be able to see Hinata the second she got back to the village.
Unfortunately, you seemed to be a little late as you caught her in the shadow of the shopping crowds. You approached in her direct view and waved to make sure she wasn’t shocked too much. But you still enjoyed the slight flush of her cheeks and little smile that you could only catch if you were truly paying attention to her.
“Hinata!” you called, handing the box to her as she whispered a greeting in return. “I got you these pastries! I was wondering if maybe you wanted to go find somewhere around to hang out and eat them with me?”
“Oh!” She reached out and snatched the offering with a swiftness you didn’t know she possessed. Still holding it out, Hinata bowed to you with a small “thank you!” coming out before she panicked and took off with an air of sorrow. What you didn’t see was her blush shoot up to her ears and down her neck.
“Ah! No, I wanted to share them!” you sighed with a laugh, beginning the chase. I wanted to spend time with you! Hinata does, too. She just needs a minute to get that darn blush off of her face! Though, when you do catch up with her and sit down, you note that her ears stayed red the rest of the day.
Haruno Sakura
Sakura really wasn’t sure what the heck all of the petals were for. She was initially shocked senseless when her parents weren’t there to greet Team Seven. Everyone milled by like they didn’t exist. Naruto wanted to drag everyone to Ichiraku’s, but being tired of his nonsense after the past week, Sakura allowed her attention and stride to wander away from the group after giving a half-hearted farewell. When she rounded a corner, a cherry blossom petal in the breeze caught her attention.
She thought it wasn’t even cherry blossom season. Was this a genjutsu? Or maybe they were fake. Determined now to find out, Sakura began to follow upwind, the direction from which the petals came from. The further she worked into the forest, the more she was convinced it was a genjutsu — she could smell the cherry blossom. Her hand twitched over her kunai strap as she worked her chakra network overtime to disrupt the illusion.
Awaiting at the destination was what seemed to be a massive pool of the pink petals. If Sakura wasn’t convinced this was some sort of trap, she would be in awe of the beauty surrounding her. A completely normal summer forest with a pocket of spring right here.
“You won’t find any disruptions in your network because there’s no genjutsu.” You rounded a tree trunk, a picnic basket in hand. “I just wanted to get you away from your team for the rest of the day. You’ve probably had more than enough of them.”
“Oh my gosh. Oh my GOSH. You are the best!” Sakura squealed, jumping down from the trees, hugging and twirling you.
You invite her to sit on the blanket of petals you set up, preserves you managed to purchase with your savings from Ino’s family’s store. (Of course, you’d never tell her that.) It seems like you’re able to guess all of her favorite foods and drinks as you whip them out of the basket comedically, pretending to summon everything like a magician.
Until sundown, the two of you are able to enjoy a relaxing afternoon in the quiet ambiance of the surrounding forests of Konoha, the only noises being your uproarious laughter and soft gossip breaking just over the static of the leaves in the wind.
Rock Lee
(The same beginning situation as Neji’s, so if it’s familiar, that’s why!)
You take off after them across the rooftops without thinking, wanting to greet Lee. Vaguely behind you, you can hear Neji and Tenten yelling at them to stop, that their race was supposed to be over at the gate. It took a good few moments before they actually were able to pump the brakes and de-accelerate, kicking up the dirt road.
You, however, purposefully ram yourself into Lee’s back from above like a hawk, giving him a hug that almost puts him out on the ground. “Welcome back! I missed you,” you yell, interrupting his argument with Guy-sensei on who stepped over the threshold first. He greets you warmly after recovering from the shock, returning your hug with just as much vigor. “I am sorry for leaving for so long, but we are back!”
“Ah, how wonderful youth is!” You forgot that Guy-sensei was right there, so you withdrew, a bit bashful. “Let me ask you, young (Y/N), who did you see enter the village first? You were there, right?”
You confess that in all honesty, you were not focused on that at all, just the fact that your friends were all back. At this point, Tenten and Neji catch up, ready to give the lecture of a life. Which is why you’re not surprised at all when your ride spins around and takes off to avoid the scolding, laughing and trying to figure out where the two of you want to lead them for a post-mission meal.

pairing: akaashi keiji x gn!reader
warning/s: none, but its cringe and very cheesy !!
word count: 600
note: istg i don't know what im doing, i just wanna post thats why
Tumblr media
“ i’m guessing you're here for akaashi? ” someone said, making you look back seeing that it was just konoha. “ how do you know? ” you asked with a shocked voice, making konoha laugh.
the dirty-blonde haired walked away first, walking inside following him, peeking your head on the door seeing that they're just about to finish their practice. bokuto found you peeking at the door as he screamed your name running at you.
“ [name]!!! ” catching you off guard while the boy hugged you tightly. ” akaashi missed you so much, don't tell him i said it to you!! ” he whispered loudly enough for you to hear, laughing at what he said. “ did you all just finished practicing? ” bokuto nodded as he grins ” you can grab your boyfriend now since practice is over! ” konoha snickered when bokuto said that as you smacked him in his shoulder.
that made him laugh as he stopped teasing you about akaashi, helping them clean up the gym before leaving it. deciding you should just wait for akaashi to come out of the gym if they finished cleaning the gym.
you were sitting on one of the benches outside as someone called out your name, you didn't bother looking who it was standing up and quickly going on his side, giving him a smile.
“how’s practice?” akaashi’s head tilted to the side smiling softly. “ as usual, it's fine. ” he started as you nodded, encouraging him to continue more so he did. he told you everything what happened when they're practicing as you both left the school.
Tumblr media
you clutched your stomach as if it will stop you from laughing too hard. “ i tried to stop him but that didn't do anything so i went along with it. ” sighing, feeling that you get over it, seeing a nearby bench hurriedly running to sit. akaashi sits beside you scooting closer to him as you lean your head on his shoulder.
he has been courting you for a while now. by you mean for a while is that he's courting you for 2 years now and you wanna change that today. you tried preparing for how you're gonna answer him but you can't think of anything so you did go to what your friend said.
the black haired boy felt you took a deep breath as he hummed in response, smiling as you both watched the sun set. “ hey, what do you think if you should stop being my suitor? ” he was taken aback by the sudden question but he couldn't move too much since you're leaning on his shoulder. “ what do you mean? “ puzzled, why are you asking this kind of question. “ ‘m just saying, you know, what if we should start over again? ” akaashi was even more confused than before, are you about to go crazy? ” start over? what? ” he asked, confusion was visible in his voice as you can't help but giggle as you sat up straight again. “ start over again as lovers don't you think? ”
the raven haired closed his eyes for a second as he looked at you. ” you never ran out of cheesy things to say. ” that made you furrowed your eyebrows, pouting as akaashi can't help but laugh.
“ come on now, we shouldn't be here for too long. ” he stands up, offering his hand to you, happily accepting it giving it a slight squeeze.
you can definitely see the smile on his face when you two are walking out of the park but yours was definitely bigger. everything feels like a dream to akaashi.
all of his efforts paid off and now you're his girlfriend.

24 Hours - Chapter 5
[Alpha!Reader x Haku]
Tumblr media
Summary: You were starting to get through your friend group by this point, and the pool was narrowing down as to who could be left. That’s why it’s confusing when you wake up in sheets washed in rose water. Who of your friends would do something like that?! GN!Alpha!Reader x Multiple
Warnings: N-sfw content
(Omg, we’re getting so close to the end now! This is the penultimate chapter before the epilogue and things are certainly getting complicated. How is @omeganronpa going to pick?? I don’t envy the job. Anyway, happy holidays and I hope you enjoy it!!! 💞💞)
Word count: 5.5k
Prologue - Chapter 1 - Chapter 2 - Chapter 3 - Chapter 4 - Chapter 5 - Chapter 6 - Epilogue
You woke slowly today, your limbs still feeling heavy and relaxed in the best possible way, with only had one thought echoing around your head:
“You will have 24 hours with the seven people you could love the most and who could love you in return. Learn so that you may choose wisely.”
No, not that one, you thought irritated, mentally waving it away. This one:
Why did it smell like roses?
You sat up, trying to locate the smell, but as you moved, the scent faded; it was coming from the bedsheets. You laid back down and buried your face into the silk pillows, taking a deep breath and savouring the fresh scent and the softness on your skin. It smelt like the sheets had been washed in rose water.
You wracked your brain thinking about which one of your friends would wash their bedsheets in rose water, but you drew a blank. You could maybe see Neji doing it, but you knew it wasn’t him. Other than that… who? Unless this was the world where you became a stay-at-home alpha and you’d gone overboard on the cleaning from boredom.
A snoop around the room only left you with more questions. You’d gone straight to the window first, to see if you were in a clan compound of some description, but no, it looked like you were in a single detached cottage somewhere very wooded, perhaps on the Northern outskirts of Konoha, but you weren’t sure. The wardrobe had unfamiliar clothes, unfamiliar things, no framed photos apart from yours… You were seriously going into this one blind. The only thing you did notice was that the box of weaponry in the room contained weapons that you rarely use, so they likely didn’t belong to you.
So, this person was a shinobi… that was all you had to go on. Which was basically nothing because you didn’t know any people who weren’t shinobi.
Feeling uncomfortable from the lack of information, you decided to get dressed so you felt more prepared, choosing clothing that was easy to fight or flee in, just to calm your nerves. You didn’t actually expect anything to escalate but being alone in the woods with an unknown shinobi was putting you on edge.
The house you were in was small, and as you stepped out onto the landing, fully intending to check out the other rooms, you quickly realised there was only one other door, and it led to a quaint bathroom. So much for gathering information before going downstairs. You were just going to have to bite the bullet and see who it was for yourself.
You descended the stairs without incident, unfortunately there was no smell of breakfast cooking, but you when you got to the bottom, you heard something faint in the distance. Someone was… singing?
You walked through the house, noting how beautiful it was as you went, following the singing. Neji and your home had been beautiful, but simple and traditional. This home was like something out of a magazine, with the perfect arrangement of blankets and cushions on every soft surface, a cute window seat, fresh flowers on every table and an immaculate warm toned colour scheme. You were getting more and more convinced that this person was just going to be like, someone you had a mission with one time, rather than one of your friends, because you couldn’t think of any of them that would (or could) design a home like this.
Following the voice led you all the way through the house and to a kitchen with an open back door. Hesitantly, you peered out.
The singing man had his back to you. He was wearing house clothes but with an apron and sunhat on, and his hair was incredibly long and dark, the tips of the dark strands resting at the back of his upper thighs (and you had to consciously stop yourself from thinking about the upper thigh region after last night’s massage shenanigan.) He was walking around with a watering can and tending to a magnificent garden. The house was small, but the garden had no such constraints.
From what you could see, the garden was designed around a series of walkways, so there was no real open green space, just trails of green that led you in between numerous flower beds and collections of wildflowers. The garden seemed to hold everything from daffodils to watermelons, and unlike the day you’d just come from, summer was clearly in full swing, sunlight filtering through all the leaves.
It was beautiful and you clearly had the mysterious man to thank for it. The way he watered and pruned the garden spoke of such love and care, that it almost made you feel emotional by proxy.
You also felt a bit silly for being scared of being alone with this person when they were clearly so attached to bringing life, not ending it.
You watched as he put the watering can down and turned, catching sight of you in the doorway. He smiled, adjusting his sunhat and basically floating his way over to you.
For a second you had no idea who he was, and when you figured it out, it took another second for you to pick your jaw up off the floor. There was no way.
“Are you alright?” he asked softly as he approached. His voice sounded different now, not massively so, but enough that you weren’t surprised that you didn’t recognise it. “You look surprised.”
“I’m fine, Haku,” you said, forcing out his name just to check. You half expected confusion, questions about who Haku was, but no, he only smiled at you again. He looked so stunning in the sunlight, dirt on his fingers, adorable apron.
It was Haku. From your first C Rank mission all those years ago.
You remembered everything like it was yesterday. It was such a defining moment in your shinobi career and with your team, hell, even in your life. When Zabuza had died to Kakashi’s Chidori, Haku had been distraught. He’d been even worse when Gato revealed his plan and Haku had believed Zabuza to have died for nothing. He had expressed a desire to die too, at the time.
Thankfully, he had stayed for a while longer and Naruto’s famous therapy-no-jutsu had convinced him to find something else to live for, whatever it was. He had of course told Haku to return with you all to Konoha, but Haku had graciously declined.
“Maybe one day,” he had said. “But for now, I need to be alone. I need to think.”
And he’d gone. Naruto had talked about letting Haku into Konoha when he was one day Hokage, but you had privately believed that you’d never see him again.
But you must have been wrong, because here he was. He must have moved here at some point in the last few years, and you had… hooked up with him.
You blushed deeply. It was something of an open secret within the original Team 7 that all of you had had a crush on Haku by the end of that mission, although Sakura was more reluctant to admit it than you or Naruto, and Sasuke was still in a denial that no one believed.
Could you blame any of you though? He was the prettiest boy you’d ever seen, talented too, a little older, foreign and he had a cool bloodline limit. That was perfect first crush material in your opinion.
But apparently, that first crush was now here as your mate. Fuck, you must have some sort of blessing from some god with what your dating pool apparently looked like. This experience was showing you that you either had more game than you thought or perhaps future you had been a quick learner, because some of the omegas you were pulling were so far out of your league.
“I was just about to start collecting the herbs and tomatoes for our breakfast this morning,” he said, picking up a small basket that was by your feet. “Heat up the oven and I’ll be through in a few minutes, and we can start cooking.”
He was so beautiful when he smiled. It was a real smile too, nothing like the way he had smiled when you’d last seen him.
“Okay,” was the only thing you could force your mouth to say. You were going to make breakfast with Haku. Okay. You hadn’t considered these cycles drug induced dreams for a while, but now those thoughts were coming flooding back at the absurdity of the situation.
You headed back into the kitchen and put the oven to preheat, taking a look around as you did. There was clutter everywhere, including a shelf filled with various jams and preserves and a shelf underneath that looked like healing balms and various herbal medicines. The flowers in the kitchen were white peonies. Now that you’d seen the garden you were no longer surprised by how many bouquets of flowers there were around the house.
You decided to busy yourself finding random breakfast ingredients and putting them on the counter, until Haku walked in, taking off his sunhat and apron and hanging them by the backdoor.
“Let me wash my hands and we can get started,” he said, bringing his muddy hands over to the sink. “I’ve been looking forward to today all week.”
“I’m glad,” was the only thing you could think to say; you weren’t sure why this day was special. “I’m excited too.”
Haku finished washing and drying his hands and then turned his beautiful doe eyes towards you.
“Let’s get started.”
You had decided to bake bread together in the end, with all the herbs and tomatoes that Haku had collected earlier.
You had learnt how much Haku loved to sing and dance as well, when the radio had been turned on the second the cooking started, and he’d been humming, singing and dancing his way around the kitchen ever since. His energy had been infectious, and you couldn’t help but join him.
Which is why now, as the bread baked in the oven, you were twirling a flour covered Haku around the kitchen.
You were pressed up tightly against each other to avoid knocking anything in the tiny kitchen and you could feel every rise and fall of his chest against yours.
You swayed together to the beat, just about avoiding stepping on Haku’s feet. The euphoria of dancing with someone else was burning hot. It was intimate, fun and a little clumsy.
“This feels like the right dance for baking bread,” Haku joked, knocking his hips against yours.
“I can’t tell if you’re being sarcastic or not,” you said honestly, knocking him back. Haku only laughed his laugh that sounded like bells tinkling.
As the final crescendo of the song hit, you twirled him once more, watching his hair fan out around him.
He laughed so openly as you did it.
“You’re going to make me dizzy,” he complained, still smiling.
“Then I guess I’ll just have to catch you,” you grinned in return, suddenly pulling him in and dipping him backwards. Haku gasped, but let it happen, his hands looping around your neck.
You remained frozen there, in a dipped position for longer than you had planned. Haku just looked so stunning like that, happily flushed, eyes gleaming and covered in baking materials.
Slowly, the song came to a close and you stood up, bringing Haku with you. You were both panting and still covered in flour from the bread.
“You have flour on your nose,” you said quietly, looking at him intensely.
“Then you should get it off,” he replied, fluttering his eyelashes at you.
You slowly and methodically wiped the flour of his nose with your thumb. You suddenly felt compelled to lick your thumb, but you were pretty sure the flour wouldn’t taste very nice, so you managed to resist.
The little egg timer started to ring, jolting your both apart.
“The bread’s ready,” Haku said, crouching down and opening the oven and pulling out the tray with the two breads on it. Both looked beautiful, the arrange of herbs creating a mini garden effect on the bread. “Why don’t you pick out a savoury jam from the shelf while I get the juice out of the fridge?”
It turned out to be one of the most aesthetic and tasty breakfasts you’d had in a long time.
“Ah, it’s almost midday, I have to get going to deliver my salves,” Haku said from where his head was laying on your shoulder. After all the food had been eaten, he’d pushed his chair right up against yours and shuffled against you. You had been sitting there in comfortable silence for a while, playing with the strands of his hair and internally mourning that there wasn’t any leftover bread for later.
“Deliver the salves?” you parroted automatically.
“Yes, I mentioned it yesterday, remember? It’s time that I deliver to my older clients who can’t make it out here to pick up their herbal medicine themselves. I also promised to drop a couple of extra bottles of burn salves at the hospital today because they have been running low after an issue at their greenhouse.”
Haku was hand delivering homemade medicine? And he must be really talented if he’s got the hospital asking for his remedies too.
“Can I join you?” you asked, eager to see more of this future Konoha. You’d still mostly only seen the inside of clan compounds, but this sounded like Haku was making a journey all around town, and you desperately wanted to see some more. And spend time with Haku, of course, not that you weren’t mostly sure that this was a fever dream again because he was way out of your league.
“I’d love you to come,” he said, nuzzling at your shoulder a little. “We should go sooner rather than later.”
Haku made no move to get up, despite his words, so you sat there for a bit longer, looking out the glass door at the garden again. You hoped you’d have time to explore a bit of the garden before you went onto your next cycle because it really was stunning.
Haku picked up a bit of cheese left from breakfast and popped it in his mouth before sighing. You smiled at the obvious procrastination.
“Come on,” you said, tapping him on the shoulder to encourage him to lift his head. “It’ll be fun.”
“If I’m with you, everything is fun,” Haku said earnestly, causing you to disguise your little flustered noise behind a cough.
“Then we have no reason to put it off,” you said, hoping the blush wasn’t too obvious. “Why don’t you tell me about all the salves you’re delivering while we get ready?”
It became clear after walking around the main areas of Konoha that things had changed a lot. You automatically looked towards things like alleyways and shops, only to find them missing or replaced by something else.
Even new buildings from after the Sound invasion were gone, despite how recently they were built. It made you nervous to entertain why the whole village had basically been replaced, so you tried to focus on how lively everything was. It energised you to see people having fun, bustling around and going about their business. You’d been out of the village so much that you hadn’t actually seen Konoha in the daytime for months.
Kami, you were starting to realise it was mostly your fault that you were lonely. Maybe you should start specialising in something that would keep you in the village more often, like paperwork or teaching or… torture? Maybe not that last one.
“The first house is just up here, above the bakery,” Haku said, taking your hand and leading you up a narrow staircase to a wooden door. He knocked and you both waited.
An old woman opened the door, cautiously at first, but her face lit up when she saw Haku standing there.
“Oh, Haku, it’s so nice to see you!” she said, clasping her hands together.
“You as well Mrs. Honda,” he replied, opening his satchel fill with balms and salves. “I have your order right here.”
He handed her a jar from the bag, and she accepted it gratefully. She then reached behind the door where you couldn’t see and procured a box of what looked like brownies.
“I have these here as a thank you for coming all the way out to deliver,” she said. As Haku accepted the box, she leant out and pinched one of his cheeks.
“You know, you are such a sweet young man, I wish my grandsons were more like you.”
“That is kind of you to say,” Haku said, gracefully handling his cheeks being abused. “I hope you have a wonderful day Mrs. Honda.”
He really was perfect at handling older clientele, you thought, amused.
“Are they all going to manhandle you like that?” you teased as you both walked to the next house. “Because if so, I might start to get jealous.”
“You definitely have nothing to worry about,” he smiled, holding out his hand for you to take. “And if it makes you feel better, you’re more than welcome to pinch my cheeks.”
You laughed and chatted for a few hours as you made your way down the list and before you knew it, you were walking into the hospital.
“Excuse me,” Haku said politely as he approached the front counter. “My name is Haku, I’m here to deliver some burn salves and-“
You tuned him out and decided to looked around at the new hospital instead. Gosh, the hospital in the future looked so cool! It was way bigger than the one you’d escaped from, I mean, been admitted to countless of times. You wandered over to the big sign on the wall that told you what was on each floor and scanned the list.
Woah, there was a mental health ward now? Talk about a long time coming. Oh well, better late than never. You definitely had a list of people that desperately needed such a thing, starting with everyone on your genin team, of course.
Speaking of your genin team, a flash of pink in the corner of your eye caught your attention.
“Sakura?” you called out automatically. She stopped and looked around, her face lighting up when she saw you.
“Hey! I haven’t seen you around in ages!” she said, coming over and pulling you into a hug. She looked so cool and grown up now, and she walked around the hospital like she owned it, not that that would surprise you.
“I know!” you said, excited. She wasn’t wrong even if you were thinking of a different period of separation. “How are you?”
“Exhausted,” she said, laughing. “But when am I not. The new trainees have just started, and I swear they add to the workload somehow. But my life is boring, how are things going with you and Haku?”
She wiggled her eyebrows suggestively and you automatically hit her arm, blushing from the teasing. It felt so natural and relaxing to be here with Sakura, talking about crushes like the old days. You had missed this a lot. That settled it, you needed to make sure you were around in the village a bit more.
“Great!” you said, feeling confident with the answer. If everyday was anything like today, ‘great’ would be an understatement. “He’s perfect, amazing even, I don’t know how he ended up with someone like me.”
She laughed and covered it with a cough.
“Oh, I love you, but you are as dense as a rock sometimes,” she said, shaking her head amused. You had no idea what she was talking about. Probably some future thing you weren’t going to get, so you just smiled and hoped the conversation would move on. Thankfully, it did.
“Do you still want to go,” she leant in and lowered her voice. “Ring shopping with me next week? I managed to get Saturday off.”
Ring shopping? Oh. She was probably talking about an engagement ring… For Haku. You turned to check on him and saw that he was still chatting with the receptionist who also seemed to be resisting the urge to either pinch his cheeks or give him a lollipop. This version of you had planned to propose soon, then.
You weren’t even a little surprised. As you’d already mentioned, if every day was even a little bit like today, you could understand the decision to make things permanent and official. If anything, you were surprised that it hadn’t happened already, but then again, you didn’t know how long it’d been since he came to Konoha. You obviously haven’t had the same time with him as you would with say, Shikamaru.
“That sounds perfect, Sakura, thanks,” you said earnestly. You hoped she would come with you to choose a ring no matter who you chose. “I should go and rescue Haku from the receptionist now, but I’ll speak to you soon, okay?”
“Absolutely,” she grinned, hugging you once more before running off into one of the back rooms.
It took longer than you’d hoped to rescue Haku because as soon as you’d approached you had to hear a whole spiel about how cute of a couple you two were before the receptionist got distracted by a group walking in and you could thankfully leave.
“I only have one more house to visit,” Haku said suddenly, looking over your shoulder to a restaurant you didn’t recognise. “Why don’t you pick up some food from there for dinner? It was so good last time we went and I’m too tired to cook. Then we can meet back at home?”
His suggestion sounded fair, but the spark in his eye made you think he had some kind of ulterior motive.
“Okay,” you agreed slowly. You didn’t want to call him out, so you just agreed.
“Make sure you get dishes that are supposed to be eaten cold,” Haku instructed as he walked away. “Those are perfect for summer. And don’t forget dessert!”
With that he was gone, skipping off like he knew something you didn’t. Oh well, probably best to just do as you were told.
You had ended up getting nervous and buying basically everything on the menu that could be eaten cold, so you returned home a little later than expected, especially considering it took a little trial and error to find the small cottage.
Despite that, the lights were still off, so you appeared to have beaten Haku home.
Or not… because as you opened the door, laden with bags of food, you saw rose petals and tea lights all over the floor, directing you to follow them into the house. What?
“Haku?” you called out, tentatively following the petals. “Are you there?”
Anticipation and suspense built as you walked, and eventually the petals led you to the back door, the summer evening was still well lit, but the petals curved round a path that you couldn’t see the end of. Hopefully this wasn’t just a very elaborate trap.
It wasn’t a trap.
The petals led you round the back of the garden to a little alcove amongst tall grass and flowers, partially shaded by a willow tree. In the centre of the alcove was a small collection of blankets and cushions, laden with plates, drinks and of course, more rose petals.
But none of that was anything on the spectacle sitting on the edge of one of the blankets.
Haku was sat on the corner of a baby blue blanket, one knee drawn up to his chest, the other out straight, wearing only a short, purple yukata that was falling rather tantalisingly off of one shoulder. The sleeve had fallen so much you were able to see the edge of one of his blush pink nipples.
You started salivating immediately and not because of the food. Every word you have ever learnt fled from your mind as you stared at him. He was like a wet dream come to life.
And the way he looked at you… fuck. Those massive eyes were coy and the way he was biting his lip was sending you. Sending you where you weren’t quite sure, but definitely somewhere nice. Maybe you hadn’t been drugged, you’d been killed and sent straight into some blissful afterlife.
“I was starting to think you’d got lost,” Haku said after it was clear you wouldn’t be saying anything. “But now you’re here… we can start.”
He stood up, fuck that yukata was shorter than you thought it was, and took the bags of food from you, placing them in the centre of the main blanket. Then he grabbed your still frozen and processing body and pushed you down where he’d been sitting moments before.
Seconds later he straddled your hips and oh kami, he wasn’t wearing any underwear.
“I’ve needed this so badly,” he whispered, leaning over you and pressing his chest against yours. It was like the dance from earlier, but so much more. He dragged his teeth down your ear lobe and stole your breath. “We have been apart too much recently.”
“The-the food,” you protested. “We should-“
“Why do you think I asked you for cold food only?” Haku said with a deceptively innocent voice. “We can eat in a bit, right now, though? Let me serve you.”
“What?” you stuttered, horniness clouding your brain.
“Let me serve you, alpha,” he basically purred, looking down at you. His hair was tied up, you realised belatedly, but you had been too focused on his body to notice until now. “Please?”
“Yes, do whatever you want,” you said breathlessly. “But we’re outside…”
“There’s no one here,” Haku purred, pushing up your shirt. His hands were warm on your stomach and as his fingers explored, your stomach muscles jumped. “And even if there was, everyone should know that I love you and serve you, my alpha. It is not a secret.”
If you weren’t already dead, you were going to be soon.
Haku didn’t waste any more time, attaching his mouth onto the skin above your trousers before you could finish the thought. He sucked a path of hickies up your chest, pushing at your shirt impatiently whenever it got in the way. It was phenomenal how he knew every sensitive spot, even those you didn’t know about yet. He had clearly ‘studied’ you intimately.
You couldn’t see because of the angle you had, but you could feel Haku’s hips rutting his erection against your hips with every successful hickey on your skin. He was really getting off on worshipping you like this. The wildflowers couldn’t fully disguise the scent of slick in the air. You hoped that Haku had been right about no one being around, because if anyone was, there would be no hiding your activities.
By the time he reached your neck, he had obviously lost his patience with your shirt being on and he started tugging at it, encouraging you to help him slip it off, which you did.
“That’s much better,” he said, running his palms all over you. He pressed at the hickies and seemed happy with your sharp intakes of breath.
“Kiss me,” you demanded suddenly. The need to kiss him almost burnt you as your brain scrambled to make it a reality for you.
Haku obliged immediately, kissing up your jaw until he reached your lips. You pushed yourself up a little with one hand, and with the other you grabbed the back of his neck, never once breaking the seal of your lips.
As you explored Haku’s mouth, you couldn’t resist the pretty nipple that had been peeking out the entire time and your fingers quickly found their way there. You rubbed and pinched and flicked at it until it was peaked.
This was the hottest situation you’d ever been in, and you weren’t going to waste this feeling awkward and unsure. You were going to give it your all.
Haku was the one who broke the kiss. He spoke between pants.
“I can’t- I need more,” he breathed, tugging at your trousers desperately. “Can I take them off, alpha?”
“Go for it,” you grinned, also trying to catch your breath.
Haku needed no more encouragement, and the fabric was being tugged down your legs before you knew it. He kept his body low as he pulled, so when the fabric was finally thrown somewhere to the side, his face was level with your crotch. He shot you a wink and then slowly and exaggeratedly dragged his tongue from top to bottom like he was savouring your cock.
Your hips thrust upwards without your permission and the noise that left your mouth wasn’t something you’d ever heard yourself make before.
“Fuck, Haku,” you whined, hands fluttering for something to hold onto.
“As much as I wish to continue, we can play that game later,” he said, licking at his lips seductively. “I need something more substantial now.”
That was your only warning before he positioned himself above you.
“I’m so wet,” he whimpered. “Just for you alpha, only you.”
“You’re perfect, so perfect, only for me,” you corroborated, watching the small gap between your cock and his skin as it got smaller and smaller. “So perfect- ah!”
He sank down fast, and your hips were pressed against each other in an instant. Haku’s mouth was open in a silent scream and sweat was beginning to gather on his skin. You probably looked the same, because you could never remember feeling so good in your life.
And it only got better when he started to move his hips. You already knew he loved to dance, and you could tell. He shifted his hips back and forth like a pro, riding you expertly. Despite his desperation, he didn’t seem to be chasing his own pleasure or sweet spot but instead watching your reactions like a hawk to see what felt best for you.
You suddenly had the rather embarrassing thought that you weren’t going to last very long.
“Oh, alpha,” Haku moaned. It was the prettiest thing you’d ever seen. “Is this good?”
“So good, so good,” you moaned back, pushing yourself up so you could kiss him again. This time, your spare hand wrapped itself around his cock which pulsed, hot and heavy, at your touch. “I’m getting close.”
“Me too,” he whimpered against your mouth. His hips kept up their brutal pace with no indication of faltering. “Please knot me, alpha! I need it!”
“I will, baby,” you weren’t sure you could stop yourself anyway. “Just keep going.”
It took another few minutes, but Haku’s gorgeous eyes were starting to fill with tears and his hip movements were getting sloppy. He was definitely getting close The sounds of sex filled your garden and with a particularly erotic whine from Haku and you couldn’t take it anymore.
“I’m cumming!” you announced, too late for Haku to really do anything but sink the full way down, your knot catching on his rim and forcing its way in. Haku seized as you stroked his cock, hoping to bring him over the edge with you. He came only a few seconds later, showering your chest with bursts of white.
His insides were twitching rhythmically, coaxing every last drop out of you, before he collapsed forward like a puppet with its strings cut.
Both of you laid there in silence, desperately trying to catch your breaths and come down from your respective highs. That was the hottest thing that’s ever happened to you, and you wished you could shake that fortune teller’s hand for the wonderful opportunity she had presented you with.
‘If you can hear me, fortune teller, thank you so much, seriously.’
Haku suddenly shifted, although you were both still tied together so he couldn’t move much. He leant over and pulled at the food bag, picking out one of the dessert boxes. Mochi, you noticed.
He plucked one from the box, and with a tired but satisfied smile, he held it to your mouth.
“Open,” he said, a coy smile on his face. “We wouldn’t want the food to go to waste.”
You stayed there, knotted together for another twenty minutes, slowly pecking at the food that Haku insisted on feeding you.
And if you fucked three more times before the night was over, well, that was between you and the flowers.

Shino Aburame x gn!Reader
Word Count: 1k
Ao3
Summary: Shino introduces you to his Kikaichū.
Tumblr media
Aburame Shino stood in a quiet and secluded clearing in one of the many forests of Konohagakure, the high grass surrounding him covering a part of his lean frame. The stoic expression on his face was partially hidden by the high collar of the jacket he always wore, the same one casting a shadow on his face.
Opposite him stood his partner, you, with a smile on your face, your head cocked to the side as you watched him with growing interest. A little adventure deep into the Konoha forest by the Aburame clan compound was most definitely not on your schedule today, but heading there with Shino was something you didn’t mind. When he told you earlier today that he had something to show you, your curiosity had spiked so much so that on the way into the forest, you could barely keep it to yourself. And since your boyfriend was not the most talkative of men, it was not like you had many hints and clues to work with to come to your own conclusion.
So, as you watched Shino hold out his hand for you to see, you sucked in a breath. Familiar bugs wriggled on his hand, almost as though they were letting out pent-up energy or some sort of emotion. “These are my partners,” He said, his voice slightly muffled from behind his collar. After having known him for so long, you have gotten used to it already. “The Kikaichū.”
As his partner and, before that, friend, it wasn’t like you didn’t know of his clan’s insects. In fact, you had encountered them plenty of times before already, but you had never truly been introduced to them in the way the Aburame see as fitting. That was an honour you had yet to be allowed to participate in, until now, that is.
“They may seem a bit intimidating at first, but they won’t harm you,” Shino always seemed to know the right words to speak to put you at ease. He knew you too well. “Trust me.”
As though wanting to demonstrate, Shino flexed his hand and watched the insects begin to scurry all over his skin, their tiny legs tickling him as they crawled. He was used to the sensation already, but still watched the insects go about with interest in his eyes.
You, on the other hand, watched with fascination, your gaze practically glued to their black little bodies wandering about.
“The Kikaichū feed on chakra,” You already knew that, but hearing Shino talk about his insects always caught your attention. He was never the big talker, preferring to stay quiet instead, but when he did talk, Shino’s voice came out in a lull that never failed to mesmerize you. “They are capable of draining an opponent’s energy in battle. They can also track scents and detect enemies.”
You leaned closer to his hand and the insects, peeking at them with interest. Then, you looked up at your boyfriend, “You know, Shino, I admire your knowledge about bugs. It’s so extensive, it’s impressive.”
Behind his high collar, Shino’s lips stretched into a smile, his cheeks feeling warm. “Would you like to hold one?”
For a moment, you said nothing as Shino moved one of the bugs over to his other hand. It wasn’t that you were scared of holding one of his trusted bugs, you knew that from the bottom of your heart, you could trust Shino, and yet this was a big step. He was trusting you with the safety of one of his bugs, which wasn’t exactly an everyday occurrence for either of you, and you were determined to treat it as such.
“Sure?” Almost tentatively, you reached out your hand. Shino moved his hand with the singular bug toward yours, the two of you watching as the insect crawled from his hand over to yours.
At first, the sensation of the little legs leaving a faint tingle behind left you shivering as you got used to the feeling. But then you watched the bug move around freely, almost as though it got used to the new space it got to occupy. It reminded you of the other bugs you had encountered already, but knowing that this specific one was one of Shino’s made holding it much more special.
“What a cute little bug,” You commented, your voice filled with wonder. As the bug moved toward the back of your hand, you turned it, so it wouldn’t be upside down. “Fast too.”
Shino chuckled softly. “That they are.”
He was well aware that to some, the Kikaichū can be unsettling companions to have. To see your fascination with the bugs that were so important to him and his entire existence as a Shinobi, to see you smile as his little companion moved all over your hand, made him happy, too. Shino could barely keep the smile off of his face as he watched, a warm feeling of contempt washing over him.
“Does it have a name?” You asked while turning your hand so that your palm would face upward again. Almost like a child captivated by their new toy, you didn’t even lift your head to look at your boyfriend as you continued, “He looks like a Shino Junior.”
At that, Shino raised a brow. “And how do you know it's a he?”
You shrugged. “I don’t know, he just feels like a he.”
“Well, the one you’re holding is a female, actually.”
“Oh,” Your gaze moved to look at the beetle-like bug again. “How do you know that? Which ones are female and which are male?”
“Female kikaichū like the one you’re holding right now can be placed on a target during a mission. They will then release a pheromone that the males are able to home in on,” Shino explained. “Growing up, I spent hours trying to find differences between them.”
With a newfound spark in your eyes, you lifted them to look at Shino. “Can you tell me more about the Kikaichū, please?”
There’s nothing he would love to do more.

Deidara x GN!Reader
Synopsis: Mercenaries try to attack Deidara and Sasori to turn in their bounties to the Hidden Leaf, but one of them falls for their target.
Word Count: 2,897
⚠️Warning: FLUFF!! Slow burn. Did I unintentionally write enemies-to-lovers when I was a kid? Ohonhonhon~ Inspired by “I didn’t Know That I Could Feel This Way” – performed by Roger Bart and Susan Egan.⚠️
I Didn't Know that I Could Feel This Way
Premature Burial
My team and I consist of a five-person squad. I didn’t get along much with any of my teammates, but I guess it’s better to stay in a pack, rather than to die alone. We were a small group, obviously, and very few thought much of us; we weren’t hired for many jobs or looked at as a threat to other groups. I wandered the halls of our small abode trying to think of something. Something that would make these losers a little better known and therefore making me a little better known. You’d think that being noticed is a bad thing for a group of Missing ninja, but that doesn’t pay for our living necessities.
The sunlight shone through the window to my bedroom, I came in and leaned against the railing looking up at the clear sky. “Hmm… Am I the only one that thinks around here; everyone else is lazily moping around. Screw this,” I jumped out the window of our two story building and began walking around the small town we were located in. It’s not like our group is seen as a threat. No, we’re a sorry excuse for a mercenary group; we’re not like… like… the Akatsuki.
Hours passed and I probably circled the village about sixty times by now the ground seemed to have a miniature ditch etched into it. The sun began to set, and something slapped me in the face. The Akatsuki work in pairs and there are five of us, if we can at least capture one that’d be perfect! But something like that isn’t exactly easy. We’ll have to start planning immediately.
I ran for our building; this would be splendid. Not caring what the hell everyone was doing I slammed the front door open and called a meeting. Third in command means nothing to me if I’m oh-so–smarter than these imbeciles. Hehehe~ “Alright everyone, I’ve got an idea to make us not just mercenary group for hire but some group that’s worth their salt! Since we’re not great “villains,” let’s change it all up to being Anti-Heroes. Okay, just listen! We’re going to kidnap an Akatsuki member and…” Crap… I didn’t think further than that did I… “We’ll just capture them and… turn them into a ransom or- or a bounty. For the Leaf to pay us. See we’ll just help the big dogs,” I grumbled, “Since we’re just small fry…”
“That kinda sucks,” says Renka, the leader of our group. He’s not the brightest but he does have the balls to try and help me pull off something like this “But I like it. Let’s go for it, we don’t have too much to live for. So, what the hell.”
“They work in pairs, all of us are about jonin level or up; if we all work on grabbing the same one in perfect unison we could do it!” Then it was decided we would take on an Akatsuki member. It was my decision to pick one out; the only known members in public are: Itachi Uchiha from Konoha, Kisame Hoshigaki from Kiri, Deidara a blonde girl, Sasori an angry looking man that’s covering his face, a silver haired man, and another man with green irises and red sclera. Hmmm, since it’s my choice to pick… I’ll go with… the blond woman.
Confrontation
Okay, the past couple of weeks we’ve all done this research on that one member of Akatsuki. “Wow, I didn’t realize he was a guy…” It turns out his name is Deidara from Iwagakure, he’s a bombing expert previously from Iwa’s Explosion Corps, and his partner is Akasuna no Sasori, the poison and puppeteer master from Sunagakure. We were all gathered at our kitchen table, our group work flowed nearly flawless, and everyone works with one another, watching what everyone else does to make sure of our next move. I don’t want to have any doubt in this group anymore. This will be one of our most amazing feats. Some may say we’re desperate, insane, lame, or just plain stupid, but it doesn’t matter at least we’re getting our asses in gear and doing something. We’ll head out now, as far as the information we’ve received, this Akatsuki duo is in the Land of Rivers in the Village Hidden in Valleys. From our destination to the village, I would estimate a day’s travel if we kept going. The sun passed slowly with each leap through the trees, it was boring traveling with these twits. I couldn’t make a conversation with their shoes for all that they were worth.
Night fall never needed to come, 25 meters ahead of us the Akatsuki duo was walking in our direction. If it was our lucky day, it must have been today. Renka as leader of the group launched an Earth jutsu using a crater to block the Akatsuki’s path in return he received a metallic tail. The tail didn’t kill him and while in the air it’s nearly impossible to dodge but he spun and it only cut the epidermis of his arm, not enough to draw blood, so he was still combat worthy. Mai and Hiroshi, more of my teammates, shot a "Water Style: Tornado Spear" and "Lightning Style: Electric Raid" to stall Sasori, the shorter looking teammate. He seemed to scowl like this was a simple chore he didn’t want to deal with. He looked down on us, clearly.
“Looks like we’ve got an ambush set for us. Huh, Sasori, my man.”
“They’re weak, finish it quick,” The shorter man said with a deep a coarse voice.
I would refuse failure but if I died at least I died in battle… And I’d like to put up a fight! Deidara released several white spiders from a ball he tossed into the air. If I remember correctly, Deidara is an explosives expert. Although small his little creatures tore the ground wide open to reveal a cavern of sorts and blew up one of the men on the team. Some of us got sent falling to our death.
Into the Abyss
The small battle was brief but to be honest… I was glad to be rid of that “mercenary group” I was a part of. Before that… On the battlefield above I had enough distractions pulling Deidara and Sasori’s attention that I was able to assassinate Deidara from behind. At least that’s how it should have happened.
Instead, I was knocked into the cavern with him and entered into a fist fight. I got the last blow to his face before he released a weird looking bird to kill me.
I woke up in the dark. My fall shouldn’t have been so hard but that cavern was deep. “GAH! Get off my crotch hn!” What… he’s not dead? I did as he asked but I wish I knew where we were. There were make-shift lanterns in my pouch, I used one to lighten the area. The little flame made a fizzling noise. The little illumination had shown a dull yellow on his face and mine. His eyes were strange… as if he were seeing things in detail… “Well, don’t you have fine lips hn.” There weren’t any deep gashes to either of us but I’m sure we’ll be sore for the next week or so with a little head trauma.
“You’ve got a deep voice. And here I thought you looked a little girl-ish,” I stated to him apologizing for the mistake. This was perhaps the best chance to take him out right now but… I’d rather get out of here first besides he wouldn’t be dumb enough to stumble in the darkness of a small cave against an opponent who’s been attacking him in close combat.
“You thought I was a woman? Yeah, like I don’t get that a lot.” He rolled his only visible eye sarcastically.
“Well, you are of average height for woman and have long blonde hair, what else should I have thought. That’s besides the point right now,” I scowled at him. “Help me get out of here? If you try an explosion on the ceiling, we’ll BOTH get crushed…” Although he should resent me, he agreed to my request and so we began walking in the direction we believed was west.
I hated small spaces. The width of the valley was barely wide enough for a fettle position and only taller than both of us standing on one another. My breathing was a little uneven that posed a problem. We’re underground and the air supply is limited. “Hey, you’ve got a problem or something?” I heard him say to me.
My chest felt like it was constricting, “I’m fine; we’re going to get out of here right?”
“Un.” He knows something’s wrong with me; I can’t stand these walls. “Look if you’re going to start heaving, we’re stopping ok!” I do as he says and sit down in the cramped space with my head between my knees. Deidara sits across from me crossing his legs and staring at me bored-like.
“You don’t have to stare!” I grabbed a handful of dirt and toss it at him.
“Geez, emotional much?” He’s mocking me.
“My name is [ ]…”
“Alright, [ ]; what did you think of my art earlier, huh?” What…? Art?
I raised my head and stared at him. “Those weird contraption animals that got us here in the first place!?” Our voices became louder and resonated through the cavern.
“They’re not weird, they’re beautiful! Or would you like to see them again.”
“Are you trying to get us killed down here!?”
“I have to kill you for attacking me and Sasori, hn!” He had this funny habit of grunting, I noticed. If it weren’t for the situation we were in. I’d have found it adorable.
“Well, apparently, we failed! How’s that?!”
“Pitiful! Your friends up there are probably dead by now.”
“Yeah, that matters,” I said sarcastically. It obviously should have, but it didn’t to me.
Deidara’s one eye opened wide as he stared back at me. “You don’t care about them?”
“They’re dimwits…” I shuffled up to my feet. “Get up, start moving…” The walk towards an exit that may never be found seemed endless… and I couldn’t help myself. I grabbed Deidara’s hair from behind.
“Hey! Knock it off…” I didn’t let go…
“We’re stuck down here; I’m making the most of it…” Our confrontation during our descent started physically, but it escalated verbally. Repeatedly, I guess… I’m having fun.
This is the Wrong Place for That
The walk wasn’t depressing as it should have been; I started talking to the blonde artist. I told him how I was blamed for the death of a feudal lords’ family… mistresses more like it… I helped found the mercenary group that I was a part of and how pathetic they really were… The more time spent down here and where I’m forced to stick with this one person, I started to smile. My heart flutters that stupid feeling like a schoolgirl genin but I can’t help it. I want to see him smile too.
The cave started to become narrower, my claustrophobia pulling up back to the surface… A dead end… the cavern stops here. “Great,” I wheezed. “What now?” Deidara started pounding on the wall, tapping it…
“It sounds pretty hollow on the other side; maybe I should blow the wall open.” Hmmm, he doesn’t seem wrong, I’d rather not have my skin seared off, but I don’t want to die down here either. I nod in agreement to this, and we stand back when he summons a clay cricket from the palm of his hand. Small but effective in his hands.
{Deidara’s View}
I blew open the wall and the sound vibrated through the hollow. The opening revealed a dimly lit hallway of swirls. It sure was dreary. I wonder who this place belongs to? Hm, undergrou- I didn’t finish my thought, [ ] scrambled over me through the opening shoving in my face into the wall. “You could say “Excuse me,” you know?!”
“You were taking too long and there’s no point in arguing with me since… We’re still underground!”
“And it’s my fault…?” I looked at her with an incredulous expression and they began to pout. What a cutie. Huh, awkward feeling I’m getting in my stomach… whatever. I hop out of the opening I created and started walking, this might be someone else’s territory and I’d rather not stay put to find out.
“Do you even know where you’re going!?” They screamed behind me.
“No, not really but see ya later!” We’re out of the cavern now, what use do I have for ‘em now.
I guess they didn’t think the way I did; [ ] followed me through the endless maze of hallways with wondering eyes. I’m thinking they were checking me out, I mean why not.
They caught me off guard, “That’s a smug look you have on your face…”
I looked back at them, “What do you mean, this is my face get used to it.” Our little arguments continued from conversations that were supposed to be “friendly” but that never seemed to work out. In the next corridor we turn to, I get a strange surprise, caged people. They all look up with terror as if expecting something. It looked like they’ve been here for a while.
Someone from inside a cage rushes up to me, “Can you help us?”
“Really…? Where are we?” [ ] asks while pushing up against my back.
“I don’t know ask them.” I turned to the prisoners. “Why are you all caged up?”
“Orochimaru… He performs experiments on his prisoners.” Orochimaru… My lips curl into a smirk.
“So, this Orochimaru’s place huh... Do you happen to know if he’s in the den right now?”
A murmur erupts from the crowd of prisoners and someone one the other end of the hall replied, “He’s at the eastern base right now… in the Land of Fire.”
Hmmm, that’s pretty for from here, but “Where is this base?” I kneeled to their eye level.
“On the border of the Land of Wind and Land of Rivers, huh.” My shoulders slumped in disappointment. “Well, if it gets him irritated when he comes back here, I’ll let you all free hn.” They all looked up at me now not with terror but with hope. So, I blew off the hinges and locks of the cages with a little centipede. [ ] looked at me with a face of admiration and confusion. “What… I’m not heartless, geez. Orochimaru’s gonna get a kick out of losing some of his prisoners anyway.”
We followed the prisoners to where they thought the exit is. They’re like rats; they go in the direction of least danger.

Deidara was confident and had a strange humor to him. He made me feel like I’m dreaming and the stress from before blew away. I don’t think I want this feeling to go away. He smiled and I’d get a little dizzy. I wanted power and, at first, I was hoping his corpse could help my reputation. But we just meet, and as enemies to boot, I didn’t think I’d feel…
{Deidara’s View}
My first impression of [ ]? Oblivious, short-tempered, and tough. Well, at least they acted tough. The face they made towards one of the children prisoners though made me stop and stare a little. For someone so tough and vigilant, they’re just… a sweet person overall. I never dreamed that I could feel…
Love
{Normal View}
The bright sunlight burned my pupils nearly shut. All the prisoners ran from the exit and scattered, a few of them looked back to wave goodbye, and one woman hugged Deidara before running off. He doesn’t seem to be one for gratitude as I noticed the discomfort on his face. “Hmmm, you know I think I’ll just blow this place sky high hn.”
That’s the one thing that always came up in a conversation with him; he called his explosions art. I let him do as he pleased, an stepped back from the entrance of the base. He didn’t argue with me when we took off on one of his clay birds. It’s strange he would let me travel with him but he hasn’t tried killing me since the cave. So, I hoped, we’d be friends. But that thought was pushed aside when he grabbed me over the shoulders and I could barely mutter out a word. “You were shaking. It’s cold up here for you?” It’s not like a big sweater would be useful for an assassin type like me but yes, I was a little chilly. My nose felt like it was freezing and I nuzzled it into the crook of his neck and cloak and he squeezed my head.
“Hmm, ticklish much?” I purred.
“Uh, that usually doesn’t happen to me since I fly solo and all.”
{Third POV}
The trip to their destination where they were supposed to have a mission with Sasori was quiet in the wind and sky. The two of them couldn’t speak properly even their minds as they rehearsed what to say to each other. But instead, each took side wards glances at the other. All of the feelings from their first meeting to the cavern until now: anger, embarrassment, irritation, bliss… Made them question themselves at least three times since they started talking… “Could I possibly love you?”
Tumblr media
A/N: Once upon a time I said in the author’s note, “I'm most proud of this one-shot. It makes me feel all tingly inside and I don't even "have a thang" for Deidara.” Aka, I wasn’t horny for Deidara then and I'm atill not now, which was really beneficial for some fluff. 🤗 Tbh, this wasn't as bad as the Kakashi one-shot; I could actually read through this one without a grimace.
Up next is Envy (FMA/FMA:B) for my revisited one-shots.

Uchiha Sasuke
Sasuke was already in a delicate state following the Forest of Death portion of the chunin exams. His curse mark was sealed, sure, and he secured his passage to the tournament. But he could see that the next month would be pure and utter hell. The only thing that he thought would get him through was being able to annoy you with his attitude.
That hope was lost when you told him you were leaving later that day to train for the next round as well. Somewhere far away. You won’t be back for a month. Sasuke didn’t really hear much after that. He would scoff, push you away verbally, the works. Yeah, you weren’t his friend or anything, never were. You’re abandoning him like everyone else, how could you be?
“Go away and train. It’s not like it will do anything for you.”
A melancholy smile would blossom on your face. Wordlessly, you would step towards Sasuke and kiss his cheek. Huh? What? But you just said you were leaving him alone for the next month. He’s absolutely baffled by your conflicting actions. Before he could figure out just what the hell was going on, you would grab his hand and slip a simple metal bangle on his wrist. In an act of defense, Sasuke would push you away and grimace.
However, that didn’t wipe the smile off of your face. You were pushed away physically but not mentally. Not emotionally. In a moment of vulnerability you would say to Sasuke: “I will be back. Don’t worry yourself, alright?” He wasn’t convinced until you raised your own hand and showed him a matching bracelet on your own wrist. “These will symbolize our bond for the next month. And beyond, if you don’t mind,” you would say, winking at him.
Even though Sasuke’s face was set into a deep scowl, his true feelings were betrayed by the fact that he wasn’t blowing up on you or trying to rip the bracelet off. He was just twirling it around his wrist with a hint of curiosity in his eyes. You would smile at him once more, a cheery and bright one this time, as you waved to him and followed the road to the gate of the village to meet your teacher.
The bangle would become Sasuke’s most prized possession; he wouldn’t take it off for anything for a time. While I do think he would take it off after leaving the village, in an effort to destroy all of his bonds and gain power, something repressed within him couldn’t get rid of it. So instead, he would carry it in the depths of his packs to forget about it, though it would frustrate him from time to time. When he eventually comes back to the village and sees you still wearing yours after all the time you’ve been apart, he is consumed by grief and tries his best to reconnect with you. Now, he can never be seen without his own bracelet — he even sleeps with it on.
Haruno Sakura
Sakura has a sixth sense when it comes to people leaving the village to train. So, I honestly think she would figure out that it’s what you wanted to do with your sensei before you even made up your mind. She saw it in your eyes when you looked up to your teacher. The adoration, the determination. It was the same way Sakura looked at Tsunade.
Your imminent departure was bittersweet for her, however. Sakura was certain that she loved you, in that thirteen year old crush way. When you pick someone and make your entire personality obsessing over them. You guys hung out all of the time too, goofing off and getting meals around Konoha. Sakura could really be herself around you. What would she do without you?
Maybe she could go with you! But Tsunade was the Hokage, she wouldn’t be able to do anything to train Sakura from so far away. So, she brainstormed. What could possibly keep the two of you connected for so long? If you truly were going away, you may be gone as long as Naruto said he would be. That’s three years. You might forget about her.
These thoughts swirled in her head for days, waiting for your departure day to bid you farewell. Would she be able to send you letters? Maybe she can visit you when she’s off. Or perhaps you’ll visit the village yourself!
Before Sakura knew it, though, she was standing face-to-face with you at the gate of Konoha, tears streaming down her face. The insecurities of the past few days rose up to the surface, and she moved forward to hug you. Before she could, though, you held out a carved wooden bracelet, the birch wood scraped down to perfect beads and strung together with a piece of wire.
“I made one for myself, too. So we’ll be connected no matter how far apart we are. I will be back, though, so this is only temporary!” you told Sakura, a smile gracing your features despite your tears. She would collapse into your arms with another sob, crushing your bones in a hug. You reciprocated, placing a kiss on her forehead before letting go and walking away with your sensei. Sakura would never forget that moment, and neither would you. Three years is a long time but she’ll wait for you. There’s an end in sight, and she is reminded every time she puts on your bracelet.
Rock Lee
Now Rock Lee, I think he would actually go with you if you were to leave to train for a period of time longer than a month or two. We’re talking about a boy who will absolutely be whipped for anyone he crushes on with a mentor that is friends with conceivably every jonin-level ninja in the village. Yeah, y’all are training together if you let him. However, he would learn that you’re leaving on the day of, so this scenario still goes down.
I think Lee would take the news very bad at first and dramatically beg you to stay in the village. He would be on his hands and knees begging you, holding your hands in a vice grip to keep you from getting away from him. There would definitely be tears shed. Lee is just that kind of guy who wears his heart on his sleeve and is full of dramatics!
You would give him a simple steel bracelet, with some weight to it, of course, while he’s still trying to get you to stay. “Lee, please don’t worry about me. I’ll only be gone for a short while,” you would tell him amusedly. “Keep this bracelet on to remind yourself of me. I’ll be wearing a similar one, so we won’t be completely disconnected while I’m away.”
Now Lee would be blushing and you would have actually made him stop talking for a second. His hands were still clasped onto your wrists, so you would help him up… sneaking a kiss onto his lips very quickly. You would make him question if you even did it, but he knows his senses do not lie. You just kissed him. Like, for real. His face would get even more red, if that’s even possible. There was no way Rock Lee thought he would be able to take another step in his life as he watched you release yourself from his grip, wave goodbye, and turn around to go.
“I need to find Guy-sensei! We will train together!” he would shout, going against his body’s instincts and darting around to find his teacher. Of course, I think Might Guy would be up for an adventure and to help his precious student experience “the joys of youth”. So before you leave the village, Might Guy and Lee catch up with you and your teacher, bags hastily packed and ready for a journey.
“After what just happened, I cannot let you go to train alone! I will keep you company!” Rock Lee would exclaim, making it your turn to blush. Whoever your sensei is, they would be more than happy for you to have a friend and Might Guy tag along, perhaps you two would be able to take each other to new heights by sharing the experience of training together. Well, if you’re learning from Kakashi he would be miffed about this, but him and Guy are still friends so I think he would still allow it (and be secretly happy that his entertainment beyond Icha Icha is figured out).
Hyuga Neji
So you really decided to go. It had been a point of discussion between you and Neji for a few weeks. After all, you respected his opinion as a professional ninja, so you wanted to see what he thought about taking some time off to go and train rigorously. At first, he would be against it, halfway for selfish reasons and halfway for practical ones. Neji wouldn’t say outright that he would miss you, but it’s implied, since he tells you with uncharacteristic vigor about how taking missions from Konoha is one of the best ways to grow your skills.
After deliberating with a lot of other people, though, the Hokage herself included, you notice that Neji was the only voice of dissent. Everyone else thought that getting out of your home to experience new things without being bound by duty was a fantastic idea for your personal growth as a shinobi. Naturally, you would become suspicious, since you already had an inkling that Neji felt some sort of way towards you. He was ever so slightly nicer with you, he would fix your mistakes during training more kindly than with others, etc. And you have to say, if Neji does in fact have a crush on you, you feel the same way.
You hatch up a plan to confront Neji about this when you leave, and when the day comes, it’s genuinely a little nerve-wracking. What if you had guessed wrong? What if Neji was just giving you some genuine advice all of those years? And he really wasn’t treating you with any favoritism, you were just imagining it because you wanted to? It was too late to back down, though, when you were met face-to-face with Neji and were holding a gift bag with an intricately carved wooden bracelet that matched the one you always wore.
“Hey Neji, I’m leaving for training soon. I’ll be gone a long time, so I… wanted to give you this bracelet to remember me. It seemed like you didn’t want me to go, so I thought it would be appropriate to get you something to remember me by." You would say this to him, put the bag in his hands, and kiss him before he could even register what was going on. Your back would turn to him and start to leave. Neji would grab your hand with as much composure as possible before you could retreat too far, looking into your eyes and saying "Thank you," before letting you go.
Hyuga Hinata
Hinata experiences intense dismay when she learns that you're leaving. She hasn't even had the opportunity to talk to you more than pleasantries and discussion about training! Mainly because you seem to brush her off at every opportunity. But even with this kick to actually go up to you, Hinata is paralyzed by fear. You're her crush, what if you reject her? What if you hate her after she tries to just become your closer friend?
The same thoughts were running through your head. You really liked Hinata ever since your Academy days, but her aloof personality towards you made you think that she is scared of you, hesitant to even interact with you for some reason. So, you tended to keep your distance out of respect. But if you would be leaving for a year, it would be perfect for a coward like you to confess and then jump ship.
That is exactly what you planned, though it seemed rude to leave Hinata high and dry like that. Thus, you packaged a letter confessing your feelings with a gemstone bracelet that you managed to buy in the shopping district. It matched with your own, so you figured that if you came back and Hinata was wearing the bracelet, she reciprocated.
On the day you left, Hinata was beating herself up that she didn't have the guts to go up to you at the gate, only waving you goodbye with all of your friends. She was sulking in her room when a messenger bird picked on her window. Inside of the package it carried was a letter and a small gift.
Hinata, I'm dearly sorry for the way I'm about to do this. I really, really like you. I understand it's the coward's way out, sending you a letter like this after I've left Konoha for a year. But I get the impression that you are scared of me, so I held back for the past few years. Please, accept this gift, and if you return my feelings, wear it until I return so I can see it with you.
Of course, the day you return, Hinata is proudly displaying her bracelet that she never took off to you with a red blush across her cheeks. You lean in to kiss the blush away, but it only deepens as your lips grace her face.
